I think they was wrestling for the ball, Rio 'fell' and the rest is history ;)

Rio lay on top of the ball waiting for the whistle to trap it and prevent Tevez from getting possesion. Tevez then reached in and emasculated him, afterwards raising his fist up to the crowd, as though victoriously showing Rio's balls as his trophy :D
