Fair play to him.
I detest how this county brings criminal proceedings for driving offenses.
Come on Nip, you're better than this mate.
It is my bad for being so vague.
I meant traffic violations as opposed to drink-driving.
we are one of the very few countries that adopt a points system for licenses when most others do an on the spot fine. Our insurance is crippling younger drivers like myself, why can we not adopt the same policy as New Zealand where we have no insurance and simply pay for damage as and when it occurs otherwise we go to court. It would make people more savvy on the road as they know a crash will directly cost them whereas safe driving wont.
I can rack up 4 speeding offences and get banned. Only a few months ago I got £60 fine and 3 points for doing 36 on a 30 at 8.30pm (ish) and no other car in my sight and the road was clear (i.e no cars parked on the kurb), so 4 of them and I get banned yet in USA or Germany you get a fine instead. Here you get a fine+points. Ludicrous, it really fucking is.
The way I see it is only 3 charges should be jail-able; Drink/drug-driving, death by dangerous driving and careless driving.
Tevez has a license in Argentina which imo is just as valid as one from Latvia, India or China yet these folks get to drive on the road. that's where my viewpoint originated from.
I personally just get really, really pissed off with the hard-line approach of this country when it comes to putting people behind bars for a series of low-end driving offences and imo we shouldn't. It's easy to say 'well if it was your kid' and all this stuff but fact is I have been driving 8 years and I speed EVERY DAY and yet I am yet to knock one over, reason is because I take care of when I choose to speed and some fucking bellend will stand there with a speed-gun on a rural road fucking peoples days up.
If this government was all that bothered about speeding then they would use set up a wireless beacon that transmits a message to your car to stop you going over a certain speed. A cars inbuilt computer would then limit the car just like the 'speed limiter' button you find on most new cars. That way it would be impossible to speed and would free up all the traffic police who spend their days standing at the side of a road.
