Say what you want about Thaksin but its pretty easy to see the majority of Thais STILL like him! This past Sundays results werte only the second time in over 60 years that a party has gained an absolute majority. Nuff said. If the military were smart, they would bide its time and see what this political neophyte, Yingluck, can do.......

Pretty hard to criticise others methods of "control" in a politically unstable,corrupt regime-when the UK government is currently involved in bombing Libya,Afghanistan and recently assisted in the destruction of civilian infrastructure in Iraq.
Sometimes we have to look closer to home...

1.He dictated polices to killed thousand of people who were suspected that they are drugs traders,those people were killed withyout going to justice process.
2.He dictated soldiers to kill Muslim in the southern part of Thailand that cause civil disobedience in three southern provinces till now.
3.Many of key men of his rivals party were killed before this election,it was believed that Taksin's men killd them.

That 3 accusations show nothing but how naive we are about situation in Thailand
As a City pal I can give some hinds, drug dealers try to cut the link by kill each others, muslims die in Tak Bai were something to do with army commander and may have to ask them what they have in their mind, key man will be killed more as they receive buying vote money but voters not give them vote to say Thaksin orders to kill are a good joke.
New constitution is nothing short but given army and co to control country, upper house now come from selection by elite not from election.

It's not hard at all. Coming from a country involved in conducting numerous injustices doesn't preclude you from criticising injustices elsewhere. Unless, of course, you're suggesting that BoyBlue_1985 is actually Tony Blair, in which case I'd agree that his opinion is ever so slightly hypocritical.

Have you ever read the history of Great Britain?

We have killed thousands of "innocents" and are still doing it as I write this...

We shouldn't be so condescending about how other countries are led when we don't have that brilliant a record with our own electorate.

I suppose when we "killed" many IRA members without trial that was justified... but those dodgy geezers in the Far East should be judged differently?

Right, this is why I hate getting involved in Thaksin debates because it really isn't as black and white as some people like to make out. Soulboy, he certainly did not clear up Thailand's drug problems, of that I can assure you. But, on the other hand, BoyBlue_1985, the Tak Bai incident to which you refer was carried out by the military; the same military that was in conflict with Thaksin for pretty much the whole of his time as PM and eventually overthrew him.

And using a PAD website to support any claims on this subject is more than a bit silly.
