Thanks Pep for calling out the ref (and Liverpool fans)

People saying VAR should have looked at the Milner yellow/red.
The truth is VAR didn't need to look at it.
It was as obvious a Yellow/red as you are ever likely to see.
It wasn't subjective or the Ref may have seen it a different way for example.

The Ref is either bent or incompetent.
The only other thing to consider is this "game management" thing mentioned in the past.
It has been reported that that Refs are encouraged to think of the bigger picture. Sending somebody off at the start of a big game isn't good for the "product". So they think of themselves as entertainment managers rather than strictly referees.

I'm going for bent or a bottler personally...
I discount the ‘Game management’ as you’ve stated it as we had a young defender sent off in the first few minutes of an Arsenal game which many thought should‘ve been, at most, a yellow at the time. That sending off had a serious affect on the individual concerned and at a time when the team concerned were rising up while the gaining team, who were certain broadcasters favourites, were struggling to keep hold of their status as a top 4 club.

The frequency with which City players pick up yellow cards compared to the team they are playing can only be described as 'stark'! Pep is absolutely right when he describes a situation that has just occurred in one of our games and makes it clear the sanction within the LotG would be applied to our player but opposition players are given the extra chance! The yellow cards add up and we lose a player for a match whereas the opposition are laughing all the way to their training ground.
As Pep says, ‘We’re incredible’. He knows exactly what’s going on and has brought his thoughts to bear for all City fans to see. What he also has to do is promote the league which he does by saying how much harder we have to work to win it.

Added to that we seem to get early bookings usually for a first offence would Cancelo have made more of a challenge on Salah for his goal if he wasn't already booked? This seems to happen a lot to us and does alter games

Spurs away. Liverpool away. Two games already this season where refereeing has arguably had an impact on the result. Aresenal at home. Referee applies the law.
Spurs away when their defender forgot his name was allowed to make numerous fouls without being punished in fact sky pundits Neville gave him motm taking the piss

you see that's what they want you to do ? then they have you
losing the plot and game plan is the trick by the officials and your mind goes to mush
we have done it so many times before (losing it) and the officials walk off like nothing has happened job done

the lesson is the hardest in football and keeping cool and controlled when your facing cheating by the officials

I don’t know how anyone can come to ANY other conclusion than that Tierney CHEATED.

He knew it was a yellow card offence but didn’t want to send Milner off. That’s is AGAINST the LotG. He knew exactly what he was doing. THAT is cheating.

He won’t be held to account, just like he wasn’t held to account for the FIRST “second yellow” ( if not red!) he should have got for the foul on Foden right on the edge of the box.

HE KNEW that if he called the foul, it would be an automatic card and as a “last man, no challenge for the ball” foul, should be a RED!

So, knowing his options, he didn’t even give the foul. Because he didn’t give the foul, and therefore he didn’t create the doubt whether it was a penalty or not, then no VAR. No VAR means he doesn’t have to have his work analyzed in game, and there can’t be a “clear and obvious error” call…unless the VAR official believes it WAS a penalty!

VAR has a quick look and hypothetically says “it’s a foul, but it’s outside the box, so no penalty, thus no VAR review required!”

It’s a fucking “get out of jail free” card!

I’ll be interested to see if Tierney is “rested” this weekend or they brazenly give City the “Fuck you! He’s one of us!”

Has ANY PUNDIT, no matter how red tinted their glasses, said Milner should NOT have been sent off?

If so, they must be up in arms at the Fabinho foul that was almost exactly the same, but got a yellow card before the City player stopped rolling!!!

CHEAT is the ONLY suitable word for it. It was clear, obvious and with forethought. That’s cheating!

Much like that liar, Wenger Klopp, who “didn’t see it” but laughed when NBCSN said it was definitely a yellow!

The game is FULL of liars and cheats, but it is also the biggest football draw in the world of cable & satellite TV, so it’s rapidly becoming more about the spectacle, and protecting THAT, than protecting the sanctity of the game.

Tierney has now and forever marked himself as a weak CHEAT for bowing to the money, TV and (not so accidentally) crowd! Like Pep said, it’s Anfield, it’s Old Trafford, it’s wrong!

1-1 game, City on top, Liverpool down to 10 men with 20 mins to go. Salah doesn’t get his goal, because Milner is involved, and there’s a strong case for City go on to win. Instead, it’s 2-2 and the ONLY narrative is “Salah is world class” and “Salah is the best player in the world!” not “City dominate but Tierney spoils their party!”
