Thanks Pep for calling out the ref (and Liverpool fans)

There’s no such thing as “last man”, it’s whether it was denying a clear goal scoring opportunity. There’s an argument it was denying that, but “last man” isn’t in any football rules.
No such thing as football rules, they are Laws of the Game :) :)

But it was a second yellow,so potentially a red.
Just opinion, there's no difference in looking at a straight red and a second yellow.
There are some big differences.

So far this season there have been 9 red cards. Not sure how many potential red card offences are checked, but if we assume double or even triple that, it's 20-30 VAR reviews in 70 games. This assumes they were all straight red.

There have been 247 yellow cards in those same games! That means that the bar for yellow card offences is MANY times lower than for red. Because yellows are handed out like confetti, you'd be checking pretty much every foul for those 247 yellow carded players. And if you review the second yellow, do you also review the first to see if that was harsh? Refs may know they've given a softer first yellow and so hold back with the second.

So, you're moving from a red card review every 2-3 games, to multiple reviews in every game. And as a yellow is given 25 times as often as a red, every foul is 25 times more likely to need a review.

So far this season 1 in 150 fouls have resulted in red, but less than 1 in 6 have resulted in a yellow - that's why we can't be reviewing all second yellows.

That’s where the skullduggery starts, in small ways, a missed yellow here or there, a soft one given to Joao (who now can’t tackle with conviction) and Salad has free reign to run at him. Milner should’ve been sent off in the first half never mind get to the ridiculous tackle in the second, I really don’t know how our lads keep their cool sometimes, I’d be all for Ferna coming on with minutes to go and dishing out a few equalisers, who was the last player we had sent off for violent conduct? it’s got to the point where we may as well have a right go

you see that's what they want you to do ? then they have you
losing the plot and game plan is the trick by the officials and your mind goes to mush
we have done it so many times before (losing it) and the officials walk off like nothing has happened job done

the lesson is the hardest in football and keeping cool and controlled when your facing cheating by the officials

Don't forget the Micah Richards "handball" off his knee by Big Fat Phil. The Skrtel punching the ball away at arms length was an absolute beauty too. Plus Suarez's blatant dive whilst on a yellow at a time when bookings for diving were at their peak. There are certainly many more which I can't remember off the top of my head.
I remember Smicer falling over in the box and the aforementioned Poll fell over too. The penalty was given before Poll had even hit the deck.
He dived again in the same game and won another penalty against us.

I think we should have a player on the bench, it’d have to be a young one so they can be part of the squad without taking a place. This wouldn’t be a footballer as such but perhaps a young boxer or mma fighter. If we’ve faced shithousing they could come on with five minutes to go and do some real damage. If all goes to plan they’d be banned from football for life due to the level of extreme violence deployed, but as they’re not really a footballer it wouldn’t matter anyway. The club might get a fine but we could say it was a young player committing a first time offence, and it might not be too high profile. One for next time we play Liverpool perhaps…

Yeah that was uncalled for, although didn’t Vinny call Salah a pussy when we beat them 2-1 at the Etihad a couple of seasons back when the scousers were screaming for the big man to be sent off after a last ditch tackle.
But Kompany didn't touch Salah
Salah jumped out of the way and then rolled around like he'd been shot
