I discovered recently that during the 1967-68 season, second division QPR appeared on Match of the Day more times than the First Division Champions.

I've only ever seen the "Ballet on Ice", our defeat at Leeds, the 4-3 at Newcastle (ITV) and brief highlights of the 1-1 at Everton which appeared on "The Golden Vision"

Perhaps our older supporters could talk us through the big games.

At which end did we score our goals in the vital game at White Hart Lane?
What was the atmosphere like during the Everton home game when news filtered through that United were losing at West Brom and the title was therefore in our hands.
How many fans were City taking away that season?
Was there any aggro at Maine Road?
At what point did City go from mid table mediocrity to championship contenders?
John Clay? Chris Jones? Stan Bowles? Did they deserve a medal?
How was the atmosphere in Manchester on the night that City won the League?
How did United take our success?
Any lucky victories or unlucky defeats?
Did we always kick-off towards a particular end?
What were the songs that season?
Where did the away fans congregate?
Was Ken Mulhearn better than Tony Coton or worse than Andy Dibble?
What colour were the Platt Lane benches?
Any strange away kits?

Sounds sad, but it's the anecdotes that provide the substance.

So I said to the doctor: "It hurts when I do that"

"Well don't do it then"

Such a comedian, leave it at that.

WTF ???

I'll try a few but bear in mind I was only 13 at the time and got to about 14 or 15 of the 21 home games.

What was the atmosphere like during the Everton home game when news filtered through that United were losing at West Brom and the title was therefore in our hands. It wasn't in our hands as Leeds still had a game in hand after the Everton match and could have overtaken us.

How many fans were City taking away that season?

Was there any aggro at Maine Road? Some minor scuffles but I can't recall seeing anything really bad at the games I attended.

At what point did City go from mid table mediocrity to championship contenders? Mid-table mediocrity is a bit strong but signing Frannie Lee in early October was crucial.

John Clay? Chris Jones? Stan Bowles? Did they deserve a medal? Stan would have flogged it for £20 and legged it to the bookies.

How was the atmosphere in Manchester on the night that City won the League?
How did United take our success?
Any lucky victories or unlucky defeats?

Did we always kick-off towards a particular end? Second half was usually towards Platt Lane if we had the choice.

What were the songs that season? "City City City", "We shall not be moved" "Who's the bastard in the black" "Noel Noel Noel Noel, that is the name of that bastard Cantwell" "Shalalalala Summerbee" "Tony, Tony Coleman ooh ooh" and quite a few others.

Where did the away fans congregate? Anywhere, no segregation really although the Scoreboard terrace was popular if there were a lot.

Was Ken Mulhearn better than Tony Coton or worse than Andy Dibble? He was good that season, Allison blamed him later for the Fenerbahce defeat and that knocked his confidence.

What colour were the Platt Lane benches? Blue

Any strange away kits?

Sounds sad, but it's the anecdotes that provide the substance.
