Re: so this agenda thing.

When we were 8 points behind chelsea the media said chelsea have the premier league in the bag! The last week they've been loads of articles talking about the scum can win the league why the change of heart from the media?

There seem to be a lot of posts seeking to prove/state that there is no agenda - when there seems to be - at least through my blue-tinted paranoid specs - almost daily occurrences of flagrant bias.

But for me the 'issue' is with the word 'agenda'. Agenda infers coordinated/managed/targeted - in the way that FFPR was introduced - where in fact for me there is just so much institutionalised bias in rag loving media organisations.

Also individuals in the media have a deep rooted love of the old guard and therefore a dislike of us which borders on hatred - they cannot report/write objectively. We see it all the time on Sunday supplement - remember the one that looks like a vampire in drag for who the word City was like a bath in holy water......

So is there an orchestrated agenda? - maybe not. Are there widespread and daily examples of bias ranging from mild to extreme? (IMO) certainly - so much so that it feels like an agenda sometimes.

You've not been on this thread much have you.

"They" must all agree !!!

Ha, I'll stick my head above the parapet. I didn't really think there was an agenda in that BBC piece either, just shit, sensationalist journalism. For what it's worth though, I do think the Lampard issue is a fairly sensitive one between City, NYCFC and CFG, and will have ramifications. Hence why no decision has been made yet.

Who are you....waltzing around here as if you own the place !!!! He he.

Read it again but as a New Yorker who is neutral towards NYC FC. You will come away thinking that MCFC are swines owned by people with questionable human rights issues who are trying to muscle in on your territory.

All that by the unbiased BBC.

You are right - what have I missed?

I am sure most claiming an agenda are doing it very much tongue in cheek, but I do fear one or two fans are genuinely paranoid enough to believe there is a master plan probably involving aliens out there planning to get City!

There is no agenda , there is just some average journalists out there who realise theyske more money (which is their job) playing to their readership which is made up of a lot of armchair rags, mickeys and gooners. These armchair clowns are desperate for us to fail so when we give a chance or when's situation allows journalists to write a story their readers want to read they do it. They are not paid for brilliant incite full pieces or neutrality they are paid to give what their readers want.

I have always found the victim mentality to be a Scouse mentality and I have always found the there is an agenda mentality to be distictly Raggish - ie they would win everything always if there wasn't an agenda against them.

Personally I wish this would be the last post in this thread as the agenda thread makes me cringe and just makes us look stupid , small time, over sensitive and paranoid!
Thats, word-for-word, what I think of all this.

Yes, very incite full.

So what you are saying is that there are journalists who write negative stuff about us to pander to supporters of other clubs.

Why shouldn't we talk about that on here? I go on this forum to talk about Man City, that includes the press coverage of it. If others think that discussion makes me or the club look stupid, small time, over sensitive or paranoid I couldn't give a toss. It's just discussion to me.

If the thread makes you cringe, perhaps you would be better off not clicking on it in future.

Re: so this agenda thing.

Just had the unpleasant experience of having to listen to radio 1.
The one sports item was that United failed to continue there unbeaten run after being frustrated by Aston Villa.........and that was it, absolutely nothing else.

Re: so this agenda thing.

Compare and contrast the media treatment of LVG to Mancini and Pellegrini.

LVG spent in excess of £150 million in the Summer. He has RVP, Falcao, Rooney and Di Maria up front.

Mancini or Pellegrini would be under media siege in similar circumstances

Re: so this agenda thing.

Interesting snippet on Sunday Supplement this morning. Alison Rudd was talking about Real Madrid and commenting on the way they sign people for mega bucks but then make them work their socks off.

Neil Ashton asked her why that was okay, but if Manchester City paid £40m for a player there was widespread outrage that City was ruining football. Her answer - I do not paraphrase - was that it was different for Real Madrd because they've always done it that way.

The people who usually argue that there is no agenda usually mean that there is no global conspiracy aimed at thwarting Manchester City. That is not what I have in mind when I think about an 'agenda'. For me, the agenda is right there in Alyson Rudd's comment - there is an underlying assumption that City should know their place in football's grand scheme of things, and it is not at football's top table; there is an established order, we are not part of it, and we have no business trying to include ourselves within it.

That mentality infects an awful lot of the media, and it infects UEFA too. Given they way City has been treated by UEFA and by the media, I sometimes genuinely wonder how it can be that there are blues who cannot see it.
