Re: so this agenda thing.

De Niro you are right in what you're saying about everyone deserves an equal opportunity

But at the end of the day these clubs voted for FFP, I honestly can't get my head around why teams in the PL voted for it

Because their owners would rather have the bird in the hand that FFP provides for them in conjunction with the new (as was) TV deal.

Yeah true and like Waspish says, it has provided them with an excuse more than anything

But it also puts a stop to the likes of Villa, Everton, Newcastle etc competing for Champions League places

But perhaps their owners are happy for that to be the case as it means not having to spend much

Exactly.

It should be remembered that Everton have been unofficially (although somewhat half-heartedly) for sale for many years now, with no takers, including Sheikh Mansour thankfully. The likes of Kenwright simply calculated the benefit of, as Waspish said, having a perfect excuse not to have to spunk the new TV money up the wall on players, but rather to line his own pocket with the windfall.

It may stop the likes of those clubs competing for CL places, but perhaps egomaniacs like Kenwright and Ashley would rather own a middling (and profitable) Premier League club than sell it to someone else to take all 'their' glory.

As Peter Swales conspicuously demonstrated, giving up something as intoxicating as owning a football club is a spectacularly hard habit to break. These lunatics love the status it provides for them. It's why logic and reason is left at the door when these otherwise successful businessmen enter the high-stakes world of football ownership. I think Tony Fernandes is quite literally drunk on the whole experience. He seems to have completely lost control of his sanity since he bought QPR.

I've said it before - how anyone could 'get bored' of owning a leading football club is a complete mystery to me. I can't think of anything I'd rather do, myself. It's got to be the ultimate ego trip.

Re: so this agenda thing.

The Guardian football site has squad sheets for the Boxing Day matches on the main page. Nine matches are listed - guess what's missing? I'm furious, I'm going to write to my MP.

Never gives anything away in pressers so you're probably wasting your time.
