I don't know whether you know them, but The Alarm is an 'anarchist' rock band from the eighties. Anyway, they were doing a concert the other day at the academy 2, and being a bit political, the lead singer comes on with green and yellow scarf on, saying "football the people's game". He was absolutely gobsmacked, as the entire audience instantaneously on sight of the green and yellow scarf began to boo.
The best bit of the concert for me, as I had just gone along with my mates who are fans.

Those of us who are seasoned Alarm / Mike Peters watchers will tell you that he has been doing that sort of thing for years and is a rag.

This did not detract from what was a good gig.

i was at the gig and much as i enjoyed the alarm - the lead singer (mike peters ) was up his own arse for most of the evening . apart from the norwich scarf he was also preaching to the audience (Most of whom were in their mid-40,s ) about not wasting your vote ! at least 3/4 of the crowd booed the scarf and he chucked it at the front row pretty soon after !

Love it when this happens. Was at a Van Morrison gig in town when he uttered commiserations for those who care about football (the rags had lost in Europe) and he looked dumbstruck as he was met with sarcastic cheers, catcalls and a chorus of Blue Army.
