I think it is.Is it any good?
Stick around for my nomination next month as I believe you of all people will appreciate the clues . . .
Ok.I think it is.
Ffs mate i've taken enough of a pounding here today, let me get a breath of air and regroup before I can go again, lol.Ok.
Is that your write up?
'Desert rock is a subgenre that originated from the Palm Desert scene. It's characterized by a hard rock sound that incorporates elements of heavy metal, psychedelia, blues, punk, and alternative, often featuring repetitive drum beats, free-form jamming, and "trance-like" or "sludgy" grooves. While stoner rock and desert rock are sometimes used interchangeably, not all bands within either genre fit perfectly into the other'. According to wiki.Anyone want to provide me with a nice summary of what desert rock is?
I won't lie at one point I did think where is spires when you need him when it was all looking a bit bleak on the guessing front.Have just rocked up expecting to find an album discussion in full flow but it looks like it was a difficult birth haha.
I've got desert rock lined up for my next pick in a couple of weeks but this is sufficiently different to it that I won't have to swap to my Tay Tay back up!
IIRC correctly, I enjoyed one of theirs that was posted in the playlist thread.Greenleaf - Hear the Rivers
.. or hear the frustration of seemingly obvious but apparently obscure clues!
Not that much to say about this one. Sometimes you like a band and an album because they are unique, or have a sound, or mean something at the right time, or connect on a level. And sometimes, you simply like something, because you just do. This is one of those for me.
It has elements of a few things I really like, it has weight without overdoing it, it has depth of sound, and I enjoy listening to it.
Beyond that, I am sure more will come out through discussions.
Well that is interesting given that I've spent a few weeks every year since 1981 one town over from Palm Desert (my folks had a little place in Indian Wells; my best friend lives there now) and I've never heard of the Palm Desert scene!!!'Desert rock is a subgenre that originated from the Palm Desert scene. There is a good collection called The Desert Sessions, of the big bands of the scene. Most stemming from the late 80s reactions to what metal had become. It happens to be a bit of an inbred scene kn the sense that most bands have members that have overlapped in some fashion and can all be traced like some weird family tree. Which was one of the reasons for picking a band detached from that particular circle.

I figured he was still on chapter 2 of Siddhartha thumbing through the pages like the rest of us.I won't lie at one point I did think where is spires when you need him when it was all looking a bit bleak on the guessing front.
The beauty of this thread, eh!Well that is interesting given that I've spent a few weeks every year since 1981 one town over from Palm Desert (my folks had a little place in Indian Wells; my best friend lives there now) and I've never heard of the Palm Desert scene!!!
You won't have that issue with me! Whilst I do tend to have an affinity for high BPM/tempos over slow ones, I am genre-agnostic more or less. What I will say, don't let the genre definitions attributed to this distract from the album itself. Because the album has merit beyond just whether or bit ut is a good or appropriate example of a bit of a niche genre. I like it in its own right, and there are far 'purer' examples of that type of scene I could have gone with.
I'm sure it will come out in the wash, but the album is already tainted with shit clues, it is doomed if we then also burden it with genre pigeonholing.
You did, and you weren't alone, and at least we all recall that now. SMH...IIRC correctly, I enjoyed one of theirs that was posted in the playlist thread.
We Are the PawnsBtw thanks for persevering Fog and B&W.
