So they have both gone then have they ?

no but at least they are actively trying to push them out.....and both will probably leave.......

Kolorov looks like he s going nowhere (and the fact that he is still here after so many years of being shit is a damning indictment of our transfer policy around that position....so many fans saying year in and year out that he aint good enough - i don't care what you say about managers/txixi knowing better about a players ability - on that one if they think he is good enough then they are plain and simply wrong!)

So just even though Bastian and Benteke havn't gone, the other two teams have done a better job at selling them both compared to Bony? Blame Pep for using Kolarov not Txiki. If Pep wanted Kolarov out, he would have stayed back in Manchester.

Do you think then that they have been buying without discussing with Pep what he needs?

I think the buying of the kids is fantastic but they are not for this season. Ive no idea how the dynamic between Pep and the others works (but from what Ive seem and read on here from people who are supposedly int he know is that Pep advises what we need and then Txixi et al go out and buy the players if they think it is right)
So someone somewhere hasn't done the job well enough as its stands and hasn't done it well enough for a couple of summers. Centre half has been an on going issue for a number of summers as has left back (for possibly longer) and finding a replacement for Yaya/ or players that mean that we can play without someone like yaya...this has been partially addressed this season with Gudongan (who for me is an awesome buy) but we are still lacking in there (fernando and delph just aint going to cut it)

I guess we will see at next may but I said the same thing last summer and look how that turned out.....we struggles as was predicted by myself and various others

I love Pep and hope he stays for life regardless of results. But I think we are wasting a year of what may (possibly) be only 3 years with the best manager in the world.

So do you think that forcing players out whilst under contract, who you asked to come to your club & made promises to, by teating them badly, encourages the players you are trying to sign in the future, or their agents, to choose you over your competitors ?

Ir do you think it is better to treat people with respect & decency ?

agree with this mate

Im not blaming Pep for anything at all....its our failure to recruit a centre half/halves that is one of the problems and Im not sure whose fault that is but someone is to blame for it

Or pep has decided to go with what we have this season?

Delph looks like he will be staying and Pep seems to like him

I think its a results business and at the end thats all that matters in football (i think completely the opposite in general life btw before you start assuming anything). Other clubs do it and its forgotten about when it comes to winning trophies...just look at how some managers/c;bus/players even behave and yet they are made England capt for instance, put in the football hal of fame (after shagging your brothers wife) still seen as one of the best managers in the world (after being sacked by the same club twice - Jose)

Yes i think we should help them move on more as it helps the club out and that is all that matters

reading this thread, I get the impression that some folk would complain if they bought a jigsaw puzzle and all the pieces weren't already glued together...

pre-season is. Or are we happy to risk losing Prem & CL games because Txiki and co. couldn't get the business done in the time frame required?

If I thought we would lose games because of that, I'd say it might possibly be worth worrying about.

But imo if we are to lose more games than we would have done in ideal circumstances, it will be because the team hasn't had enough time with Pep & nothing to do with signings whatsoever

Our squad is fantastic.

If Pep isn't good enough to make a back 4 or midfield or strike force out of the players he has, he's shit, like Pellegrini.

It's the change of style which is the biggest problem & needs time, not the squad.

Kolarov and Fernando at CB with Zaba chugging down the right and Delph in midfield. Erm...yeah, I don't think the lack of time with Pep is the issue there nor do I think the squad is fantastic. I think the squad in 3 years will be fantastic, but today, it's got more holes in it than the Titanic.

Unless Pep has coached in training so well in secret that Denayer & Otamendi can turn up on Saturday and play together seamlessly then yes I do think we're at a much greater risk of losing than we should be. Or we think Stones will just need 2 training sessions to be spot on. Either way it's not ideal and unnecessary.

Delph looks like he will be staying and Pep seems to like him

I don't think Pep will have wanted to stay with what we have...he may have to but I don't think that will have been his ideal as clearly some of the players cannot play the way he wants and he wants to show the world that his brand of football will work in the prem. Thats his challenge that he wants to achieve yet it is clear he needs certain types of players to do that (hence the pursuit of stones as an example).......will he be able to do it with what he has....i don't think so...do i blame pep for that - not at all but if he wants success he may have to change...will he - I have know idea.

Delph is a trier...but lacks the skill, touch and passing...great engine on him but thats about it......maybe thats what pep wants from him but he will need other players around him.....

Maybe a midfield 3 of Delph, Yaya and Dihno to start the season with Delphi and Dihno doing the leg work for Yaya.....now how you fit Gudongan into that once fit i don't know and what you do with the rest of the team i don't know.

I don't want to rely on Yaya as I think he is passed his best but as it stands he is still the best midfielder at the club as far as controllingthe midfield and controlling the flow of the game and his passing is second to none (well maybe with he exception of silva) - this is why i have said another midfielder is absolutely crucial as well as a lot still revolves around Yaya

It's the change of style which is the biggest problem & needs time, not the squad.

but some of those players won't be able to adapt to his style....they just aren't the right players....not so much the attacking players but delph, fernando and some of the defenders will hugely struggle

Stones, offloading a full-back or 2 like we wanted to get younger blood in. Bonucci or someone of his ilk as was linked, a new CM to replace Yaya (in addition to Gundogan) etc.

The timeframes that you allude to though are surely our timeframes i.e. that suit us. We have been pursuing players whose clubs don't want to sell (Stones/ Bonnuci), so we have little control. And I am glad we're not in the business of just throwing the asking price to try and accelerate such moves as that is simply short termism

Some of the attitudes of the people on here are really quite pathetic, I'm pretty certain life doesn't operate like championship manager does where you can go out and buy who you like, then transfer list who you don't and they immediately get picked up

You may feel underwhelmed by this window, you may not like the players bought (and in most cases do you really know the players aside from a 5 minute YouTube clip?) but these will be players scouted extensively and not people bought on a whim

Addressing the CB problem.. both Mangala and Otimendi were wanted by some, if not all the big clubs in Europe and we rightly crowed about their signings so it's a bit rich for us now to turn around and call them shit signings, sometimes they work, others they don't. if Otimendi can stay on his feet a little more then I still think he could be our Puyol in this side. Unfortunately Mangala not so much

The only player I know much about from this window is Gundogan and the one that sets us a class apart when he gets fit in a few weeks time, and for just 20m he will be the bargain of the summer, especially compared to the Pogba outlay

Pep will know what he wants and how he will want to do it, that's enough for me
