Bolded: An actual argument you and others are actually making.

1. I'm not saying we should rely on Kompany.
2. CBs we have been linked with? 3. One of whom is on his way.
3. Pep does know better than you.
Kolarov played the entire game - that is telling for a start. Let's hope otammendi is fit and stones is in.
2 - unless we get a great deal for him, my argument is that if we pay what Everton always wanted then why have we not just done that earlier so he can bed in?
3 - of course he does, as I said. What an unnecessary thing to say.

But of course, it means you aren't *really* a fan, or you need your Fanny to be wiped if you dare to suggest that we could improve in some areas that we haven't. So enjoy being superfan.

Given Rulli has signed, if we are to buy a keeper wouldn't it make sense to buy Bravo with Rulli taking over in a season or two? Ter Stegen would want to be number one for longer, surely.

Already bought and sold n for 7m, with the buy back clause of 14m in however many yard time... Can't quite remember the exact figures but yes. In and out...

As someone has posted elsewhere (and quite plausible), Pep may not wanted to have risked any of our recognised CBs yesterday for fear of new injuries or compounding any injury niggles. I didn't read anything into Kolorov playing the whole 90 mins because of this.

Come back and shoot me down Sat 16:30 if Kolorov is named as CB :)

Do you believe Pep is part of the recruitment process i.e identifying what he needs?

yes I do mate. I still cant fathom he would be happy with the way the recruitment process has been this summer as it had been said he wanted ALL signings done before the euros.

I don't necessarily think Kolarov will start at CB, certainly not after yesterday. But I do believe some are too quick to gloss over the fact that he played the full final pre season game. Otammendi is injured (hopefully not too badly), mangala is on his way out, and Kompany is injured. I'm not suggesting the issue is just kolarov, as I don't think toisin is ready yet either. Anyway, let's wait till Saturday, I doubt kolarov will play as Ota should be back, and we should ensure we have stones. You may be right re injuries though, as I was surprised that angelino, maffeo, and Garcia didn't get a longer run out.

He may well of been simply protecting who he has avail for those slots.

This place will be fun 16:31 on Sat :)

Yep - I'd like to see Garcia! Fortunately I'll be there looking forward to pep's first competitive game, so I never know what the match day forum is like!

I think Kolarov is almost certain to start left centre-back, even if Stones signs. Is Otamendi likely to be fit? If he is, he's the only option Pep will turn to.

jeez - calm down folks!
The best entertainment of the summer at the mo is the two-horse "number of pages" race of this thread vs the stones thread. Another day of flapping in here should see "it's quiet" go a nose in front...

Liverpool are rumoured to be in for Joao Mario and Jonas Hector both of whom are players we should be looking at to replace Fernando and Kolarov.

The majority thought last year the weakest area was full backs and central midfield. The only player in these positions added is İlkay, if he's injured it's back to the same players that's been relied on for the last few years. I honestly thought central midfield would of been a big thing for Pep, it's the key to the system he plays yet he seems to be keeping players who don't suit the style he demands. It will be an interesting week or two.

I dont really get the Hector shout,
He was LB in the german team that never really got going in the euros, and I thought he was far and away the sore thumb in that team
I cant remember seeing a game where a side was so dominant, but one player kept letting the attacks down, as much as the Ireland 1-0 game
It got to a point a few of us were pissing ourselves when he shanked his 7th cross into the irish fans behind the goal

Kimmich was playing out of position on the right side and looked a miles miles more comfortable and adaptable player
Is Hector always a left back? Would not go near him at all, despite the obvious need for a new left back

According to timpers on facebook hart been told he has no future àt the club stones to sign on Wednesday everton not intrested in bony!

While I don't doubt his info I can't understand why Hart would stay for a season. Surely better for him to leave now rather than wait.
