The BBC | Tim Davie resigns as Director General over Trump documentary edit (p 187)

Is she? I didn’t realise or appreciate that. I’m not being funny but is that just your feeling or has she featured on some ‘top presenter’ poll or something?

To me I was just a bit taken a back that this ‘news’ was worthy of comment, but than I suppose with all the social media platforms (and forums!), is there anything that isn’t worthy of comment these days?!

I found her ok as a presenter, did a decent enough, competent job, but that was it really, don’t feel strongly on her either way.
She's moved onto another role. Although it doesn't stop the thoughts she's was made persona non grata at the BBC because she was very good at skewering propagandists, not just the 'official Israeli spokesperson'. Which is handy until you start on the ones Mr Robbie Gibb doesn't want you want you to.

I recall an interview she did with Mick Lynch a few years ago and he told me it was one of the most difficult ones he's done because she was so quick with reframing her arguments.

Interesting that, cheers.

she is yet another example of what is happening at the BBC. All the big names are leaving either getting a shove or getting another position. This is all on the back of those Defund the BBC loons and the last Govt demanding cuts. Before too long those same people will be moaning about how the local news is presented by a piss poor trainee and how the local radio sports don't do live commentary any more. I read somewhere the viewing figures of the reformatted Newsnight are well down since it went more "night" than "News" content and as long as QT ignores the LD's and Greens with a pro-Tory host butting in then it will be down to Tory K to do everything.

On a side note, I genuinely couldn’t understand why this even made the news. I mean is it newsworthy that a presenter leaves a Radio 4 news programme after 10 years or so.
It was the very definition of meh.
O'Brien, Maitliss... people leaving the BBC because of its lack of journalistic independence... bit of a pattern, not meh.

Vic Derbyshire showing Tory K again in how to question Tories.Victoria Atkin trying to ignore her question and she keeps calling her out for it.
She’s fucking useless (VA). She gets these roles because she’s in the most secure of seats yet when it comes down to it, can’t undertake certain aspects because there’s a conflict of interest (spouse).

They now only broadcast recipe's for the poor but aim them exclusively at the wealthy - if porridge ffs

You don't say.

I thought Farage had a fucking season ticket to QT.
Not just that though. It's far worse when you look at how many people come on from 'think tanks.' Often think tanks with very shady funding, where they are clearly not there to express their own views, but the views of whoever is funding their organisation. And it's not a surprise that many of these think tanks are set up mainly to promote the interests of the sorts of people who can afford to fund them, which means they're typically right wing.

I was also looking at the journalists they invite on. There are five journalists that appear on the list of most common guests (more than 9 appearances between 2014 and 2023). They are:

13. Isabel Oakeshott: Tory and Reform groupie, Brexit supporter
13. Julia Hartley-Brewer: right-wing caricature, Brexit supporter
12. Kate Andrews: The Spectator and Telegraph, formerly (the highly secretive, tobacco-industry funded) Institute for Economic Affairs and Adam Smith Institute, Brexit supporter
12. Tim Stanley: Telegraph, has supported the Tories, but supported the SDP this year, Brexit supporter
10. Camilla Tominey: Telegraph and GB News, Brexit supporter

So of the only five journalists that appear in the most common guests list, every single one is a Brexit supporter, every single one regularly contributes to an explicitly right-wing media organisation, and other than Tim Stanley, not only are they all clearly right wing, but very right wing with opinions that are fringe minority views.

What did she try to do?
Gotcha question about standing with tameside residents to stop a housing development in 2017. Yet she supports them now.

Raynor told her the residents supported more housing but this exact development was in the wrong place and it was built somewhere else.

Bullshit. She's a politician. Now playing the game of her elevated position in the government - though previously pandering to the views of the local folk who voted her in.
If the nimbys shouted she was politically and duty bound to shout with them.
She's now promoting policy to fast-track compliant housing proposals.
I'm all for it...
