The BBC | Tim Davie resigns as Director General over Trump documentary edit (p 187)

He made a comparison did he not? It was clearly wrong.

Saying there is similarity in rhetoric from the early 1930s isn't the same thing as saying "they're Nazis" or belittling the horrors of the Holocaust. The initial populist rhetoric the Nazi party used in the early 30s to get elected is what he is comparing the wording of the Tory policy to.

Not surprised 1 bit they're coming for him.

Hell is anyone really surprised?

Couldn't give a fuck about the person but it's wrong how it's happened and why.

The Government will be loving this as it entrenches people into both sides of the culture war.

They will position the arguments as those in favour of 'billions' of immigrants coming into the country and those against it.
They’ll be pissed it happened late Friday, a missed opportunity to smuggle through a few privacy bills

Not sure the BBC could’ve handled this any worse, tbh. They’re looking pretty foolish right now.

I bet they weren't expecting the storm of the last two hours.

Unless they find someone tame to host it, they'll have to pre-record it for safety.

Well they will be gone in 13mths time and Starmer and Co will be in.

I have to say I don't agree with him Comparing the UK government with Nazi Germany simply because it belittles the horror of what Nazi Germany did. But that's the way of things these days. You only have to look at the political forums on here to see people labelled fascists everyday just because they dissagree with left wing posters. It's similar imo.
Silence the opposition, next week we can do the book burning.

They've certainly been or at least felt pressured from the govt or other sections of the media to apply their impartiality / social media rules in a heavy handed and inconsistent way.
I'm just worried that this will lead to yet another Saturday night BBC opportunity for fucking Claudia winkleman.

* Edit not actually fucking her obviously.

Maybe the BBC should make sure their contracts with their hired presenters are much more specific in terms of what they can and cannot say in their social media accounts ?
