The Berlin Wall

I have just read the full wiki page on the Berlin Wall, and wow what a messed up world we live in.

I'm 29 so I don't really remember it coming down but what a period of history that represents.

It's scary how one man (Stalin) could effect so many people in a country that he had no affiliation with, not to dissimilar from Putin in the Ukraine!

Hopefully someone can post the link to the wiki page as I don't know how to do I to the iPad, it's a fascinating read!

If you visit Berlin and do some of the less trodden parts of the Berlin Wall there are some excellent exhibitions / memorials. It was incredible to think that the world and eoruope has changed so much since I was born in '83.

What people must have lived through in East Berlin and elsewhere, and a lot of the stories are truly breathtaking.

Check point Charlie however is a crock of shit.

The evil communist nations and leaders promote misery and fear to control the masses, walling a nation in is imprisoning them, and anyone who spoke out against Stalin was usually made to disappear.

Meanwhile the leaders lived in luxury, Stalin even had his own cinema and projectionist in the kremlin, posh cars, fine clothes and food & Dachas in the countryside.

While his population lived in poverty with little or no medicine or decent food

Apparently the wall was built to keep out the filthy capitalist infiltrators, in fact it was to imprison East Germany and keep it under communist control.

Those darned Americans and their capitalism are far worse though haha

We walked along that wall for a good 30 minutes before we realised it was the Berlin Wall!! you're right about the
excellent exhibitions / memorials they're brilliant. Poznan away we trained it back to Berlin.

the sense of history is tangible.....just do one of the amazing walking tours that ends at the location of hitlers bunker
