is that 25m probably just got knocked off the price tag for Torres and probably 10 or 15m got knocked off Dzeko's price tag.

Never before will our position have been so strong, supply in world class strikers could well be outstripping demand in January.

Liverpool can't ask for 70m when Torres equal is for sale for 30m also proven in the prem and it is fair to say that with Torres now obviously desparate to get out at the Pool and realistically 2.5 years from the Champs league there neither can be too aggressive on price. Add to that we will be above at least one of the teams in the league and therefore the players will want away it is going to be much more of a buyers market. In fact it is fair to say the market will never have been better.

The beauty is if we can shift Ade and Roque we can afford to spend 30m+ on Torres or ROoney and pay them 230k a week and be no worse off on the cost side than we are now and with ticket, sponsorship etc they would bring we would clearly be better off financially than now.

I would not be suprised to see us use Rooney to get Torres and to see Rooney have to then go to Spain in a Benzama swap!

This will then be our strategy going forward we will keep to the 25 and will try and do deals that will not hit us bottom line and will benefit us top line and once we have top class football we can be less aggressive on wages as players will want to come to us rather than needing to be persuaded to come to us.

and for anyone who doesn't think Torres is on the market take one look at his body language, I think anything short of the scousers signing Alonso, Iniesta, Xavi, Villa and Puyol by Jan 5 and he will be off.

I like your logic and totally agree, although out of the 3 I would prefer Dzeko since the other options are 'damaged goods' imo....well that and the fact rooney is just a fat scumbag.

Torres was on the market last summer but I think he was taken off our 'list' when he turned us down last Jan (??allegedly).

Best thing is if we can make it to christmas in 2nd or 3rd we will have torres and rooney coming to us and simple demand and supply rules will save us a lot!

The best thing to come out of this is that the Rags squad is thinner as fergie will be reluctant to play rooney.

There is a serious chance they can miss out on the top 4 this season.

They are dropping points already you wouldn't expect and haven't really played any of the top teams yet.

The key thing for me is will he play Rooney against us in the Derby. If he's fit and doesn't play then that wraps it up. No doubt he will still have the "ankle injury".
