Last night I thought if we had offered 75m we'd have still got Kaka, because ultimately nobody would have expected a 100m bid and the transfer record would still have been smashed and 75m is still a whole heap of money to turn down. Tonight I realised why we've offered 100m, because simply it tells every other major worldwide club, Madrid, Barcalona, The Rags etc that if they want to go for players we're also considering then quite simply you cannot and will not compete - END OF STORY.
The bigger picture I believe is that Robinho was just the start of things but bringing Kaka here will escalate the change around almost overnight. Our new owners knew this when they planned to buy our club, they saw this vision, they will know that with these players in a City shirt COMS will just not be big enough, Im expecting many more world stars to join the 'project' and then our owners will approach the council and buy the ground outright as well as the surrounding land, they will develop the area putting in new infrastructure which will benefit Manchester as a whole, hotels and a complex to be built and a third tier to take on board the inevitable influx of new supporters.
This will benefit Manchester as a whole, developing the immediate area and creating jobs , take the airport as an example which will bring in outside fans every week to watch the stars on show and money will filter throughout other buisness's. Manchester will become the centre of world football with the rivalry and competition between the two clubs, no need to put the Rags down they are currently the worlds favourite team but we have shown there is a new name in town and we're coming fast on their heels.
I also believe that if we are getting the best players in the world then inevitably we will eventually get one of the best managers in the world, starting next season.
Manchester City have languished for far too long in the shadow of their neighbours, the phoenix is rising and ready to take flight.
City - Manchester City
We are the lads who are playing to win
City - the Boys in Blue will never give in
Football is the game that we all live for
Saturday is the day we play the game
Everybody have to pull together
And together we will stand
Even if we're playing down at Maine Road
Or if we play a million miles away
There will always be a loyal fan behind us
To cheer us on our way
City - Manchester City
We are the lads who are playing to win
City - the Boys in Blue will never give in
Blue and white we play together
We will carry on forever more
Maybe in another generation
When other lads have come to take our place
They'll carry on the glory of the City
Keeping City in the place
City - Manchester City
We are the lads who are playing to win
City - the Boys in Blue will never give in
