ok, we lost to notts forest in a humiliating fashion and a 3-0 loss at home to championship strugglers is shit no doubt about it. but as much as i am not a fan of hughes calls for his head and protests etc etc would do more harm than good at this present moment in time. if we we're going to sack him it would have been weeks ago. to do it in january would be idiotic. we won't sign anyone with no manager at the club.
people who were optomistic about deals especially regarding villa are now saying we have no chance when this simply isn't the case. valencia's situation remains the same and really, so does ours. do you really think potential players are that bothered about this one result?
i, for one am gutted about todays loss but i suppose we can be thankful that it wasn't 3 points dropped because at present the league should be our main concern. we've won fuck all for years so one more won't hurt. look at the bigger picture and think where we can be after january with the neccessary buys. i would like to see hughes replaced but preferably in the summer. if we get rid now it will be a shit decision as i aid before no one will come.
so lets try ( i know its very difficult to) be positve about things as we are on the up and hopefully this time next year we'll be laughing about this result as we cruise to the carling cup semi finals!!!! at least its a start

Have I got this right? You're saying you don't think Hughes is the man for the job and you'd like to replace him eventually ............. but meanwhile you're happy for him to make the signings in January that will lead us to the promised land !! WTF?!! ........ it would be good if everyone could FORGET THE MONEY AND THE SIGNINGS for a minute and just ask yourself 'if we had no money do you think that Hughes is the man to get the best out of the current squad? ....... a squad that is better than we had last season or have had for many seasons?

yes i would like him replaced but if we did it now it would be a huge error of judgement he should have gone ages ago.
we sack him anytime after january once he has bough neccessary replacements as i said no manager in january = no new players

Not quite.

Your missing one point. The likes of Villa, Kaka, Buffon, etc, demand European football. Whether it's the CPL or The UEFA Cup. We won't be able to offer that. Also, top European players love playing for high profile managers, Taggart, Scholari, Wenger, Benitez, etc. We've got Mark Hughes.(who?) They also tend to sign for teams that are constantly in the top six, not stuck in mid table or in our case, fighting a relegation battle. Yes, we can offer them the wages, but players now earn that much that it's more important to them to be involved in European competition and to be fighting for domestic honours.

city via Mark Hughes can't offer any of those things.

Today was as confusing as we have been for a few years "consistently inconsistent" which is a pain in the arse when we win then play fookin dreadful the next game, people are missing yes but a premiership side should have enough to cope and at the minute we don't. I still want to give Hughes time to build a team even though my patience is running out but what can I do apart from not turn up which i'm not going to do. I've never had the privilege of seeing a trophy other than the youth cup last year and for the first time in my life I do feel we are on our way slowly but surely to greatness with or without Hughes.

age 32, pissed up after a dreadful display watching SSN for Villa, i'm on the piss again

Breaks my heart to agree with Tommcfc (once called me a rag; forgiven) but he is right, tearing our hair out and banging my head of the wall in frustration and despair, wanting to blame MH, the Players, the pie sellers, everyone (except myself) we do need to keep focussed and be patient, then wait for the good times which are on their way.

Yes we all have lost or are losing faith in MH, but is now the right time to chop and change, my head says No, wait until the summer.

lol
i wasn't the only one!!!!

cheers

You Hughes lovers are missing one thing, you cant give him til the end of the season cos there is a very good chance we could get relegated!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Its gotta be done before that could potentially happen!!!!!!!!!!

I agree with tommcfc. I truly believe we are moving in the right direction. The last few months have not been the best. However, I think that we are only a few players away from being a good team.

People are getting excited about Villa and Kaka. I don't think they are suited to the PL, although they will adapt over time. If we signed them over the next few weeks, we won't see the best of them until second half of 2009/2010.

Good teams are not made overnight. The only precedent for our situation is Chelsea and they had a pretty good team before they were taken over. Before Thaksin bought us, there was little or no investment in the team. It is going to take time. Even if Mourinho took charge, he will struggle with the team we have at present. The thing about Mourinho, or any other big name manager, they will be able to attract big names players. Hughes doesn't have the reputation at the moment.

If Hughes goes at the end of the season then we are back to square one again.

A new manager then comes in, has a couple of months to change it to his liking in a rush during the summer, doesn't have time to assess the team with real matches and then has to hold on for dear life til January, which is a hard time to deal, by which time they'll be a witch hunt to get that manager out if they've not fixed things over night.

If Hughes goes at the end of the season then we have not progressed any further since Pearce left, as we'll still be going round and round in a circle.

Why can't people see this???

i think square one would be upwards of where we are now though. keeping hughes would be as big a gamble as replacing him at the moment given our current position and inconsistancy

And then a majority the players have played for 3 managers in 2 years? Loads of adjustments have to be made again and a new manager now would have 3 weeks to bring players in, if he can, then spend another month or 2 moulding them into a team. Or, there could be a honeymoon period and we qualify for the champions league, haha, I wish.

Would you be happy at your work having to work for 3 different managers in a short space of time? Me personally it would piss me off, as you need stability and everyone moving forward as a team, not chopping and changing all the time.

We don't have serious, serious problems at the moment. We won't go down and results like this happen in the FA Cup, that is why it has the reputation of being the best competition in the world.

Hughes wouldn't be the right man without the money but we've have got it. This is the month we have been waiting for since the last transfer window closed so why ruin it when it's here. He is right, nobody will sign whilst we have no manager and we don't want that do we? We have got the money now, lets get some decent players in, see where hughes gets us this year and then if he fucks us right over then replace him in the summer. But a change during the january transfer window wouldn't be very progressive.

The owners have one very big decision to make at the moment.

I personally would keep Hughes and just give him the chance to build his own squad he at least deserves that. I have to admit he is testing my patience at the minute with some strange substitutions and tactical changes but sacking him would be suicidal at the moment.

If we did sack him soon, who would come in at the present moment in time?? I cant think of any world class managers who are available.

The transfer window would be a waste of time as no manager would have the time to set up any transfers and he wouldn't know our current squad and where we need to strengthen.

Hughes has had a good record of bringing some quality players in at Blackburn and so far at City. So i would give him the trust to buy some players so he can mould his own side and then judge him after a full season.

People are hardly mentioning the players at the moment. THEY ARE the one's who are letting the club and supporters down.
At least half of the squad are obviously not up to it and Hughes has to still utilise these players at the moment. I would go as far as saying we need an experience keeper in and a new pair of central defenders, one of which is a natural leader. We badly need leadership. Upson in my eyes would be a good buy.

Here are the players who i think are definitly worth keeping the blue jersey:

Ireland
SWP
Robinho
Petrov
Zab
Bridge
Sturridge
Kompany

The rest need to convince me. Of the above list they all provide the quality we are aiming for and most of them want to win and show a bit of heart.

What a dreadful day and i couldn't even bare to watch the FA Cup highlights. It is a big kick in the bo*****s to go out of the FA Cup especially at this stage, the FA Cup run is the pinnacle of my season usually.

I urge everyone to continue there support more than ever. Im convinced we will be laughing at our predicament at present in a couple of seasons time. Its all about patience, i know we have been pushed to the limit but a couple of more seasons wont hurt while we are going through transition.
