The Bluemoon Song Cup 2023

where is the 'shite' button for the Rubettes?
If you were at school in the 70's this song will mostly bring back great memories.
Not to be underestimated are memories.
I would never think of picking The Rubettes but for the time it was out it is a great pick.
Thought about putting in a Slade or Bowie pick from the same era so as long as long as the Rubettes get decent draws they could be the surprise song of the tournament.

Boiling piss a plenty on here from the children.

Never fails to cracks me up that the BM definition of children works out as anyone under the age of about 55 :-)

If anyone is prepared to post a picture of themselves in their Rubettes hat from back in the day that should be enough for it to just be allowed a walkover into the next round.

The Bluemoon SONG Cup is the name of this thread.

A song is a short set of words meant to be sung.

Dayvan Cowboy is not a song.
It has no words.
It is an instrumental.
It doesn’t qualify to be on here.

We never took photos back in those days. The only phones we had were in big red boxes and 2p a go.lol.

Bloody hell. Dayvan Cowboy is a long intro followed by another one. Had to listen to the Rubettes just to confirm I can’t vote for that either and just in case that’s not enough given they are a 70s band I’m assuming that at least one of them is a nonce and for those reasons I’ll pass on this round.

I don’t understand how it gets the votes either when the artist doesn’t even perform the song!

Think we had a brief discussion about them in the last round the session fella who did the vocal decided not to join as part of a band so Alan Williams became the vocalist. An unusual group, after their bubble gum pop phase they reinvented themselves and focused on writing more weighty stuff.
