This is not one of his best but to describe Springsteen's music as "good old American boy crap" is wide of the mark.Junkies all the way. Pure music unlike Bruce's formulaic "good old American boy" crap.
Interesting aside that the Junkies were heavily influenced by Joy Division. I heard an interview with guitarist Michael Timmins recently saying how much early Joy Division went into the spaced out part of the Junkies sound.
Add in the gorgeous Margo and what's not to like :-)
Thank you. I'm not even that big a Springsteen fan -- at all -- but that was an uninformed-bordering-on-negligent comment. This is not one of his best but to describe Springsteen's music as "good old American boy crap" is wide of the mark.
The subject matter of this song is most definitely not "good old American boy crap" either.

Spot on. It was a daft comment.Thank you. I'm not even that big a Springsteen fan -- at all -- but that was an uninformed-bordering-on-negligent comment.
And I own that CJ record. Voted for Bruce anyhow just on principle.
Re CJ: As a famous music critic once wrote about another band, it's always best to be suspicious when their covers are much better than their originals. To my point, Sweet Jane is the best thing on that record, by far. And the first single. Even they knew. Case closed.
Springsteen has made his career by fooling a largely American market, that he is their working class hero, their blue collar working guitar toting messiah and they have fallen for his crap, hook line and sinker. This is not one of his best but to describe Springsteen's music as "good old American boy crap" is wide of the mark.

He's sold as many records outside America as he has inside it. Guess his non-American fans are just as dumb.Springsteen has made his career by fooling a largely American market, that he is their working class hero, their blue collar working guitar toting messiah and they have fallen for his crap, hook line and sinker.
The truth is he is writing about the mills closing and him getting laid off from his job in the lumber yard, whilst sitting in one of his many mansions or on his ranch. He is simply an actor, a snake oil salesman who has sold an image and people have lapped it up.
You can't really blame him I suppose but his music can be lumped together with Ben and Jerry's, The Kardashians and being told to "have a nice day". It's all plastic and fake
