Couldn’t stand The Rubettes’ back then , and I hate them even more now after beating my ‘War on Drugs’ team in the first round, there‘s certainly no accounting for taste on here!

Nostalgia being what it is to you lot, I get it, but your mother also used to put iodine on your knee when you scraped it playing your sport of choice in the street. May this Rubettes song fade away with those kind of unpleasant memories, because it is dire.

Here's the thing..... yes it's a ''classic'' but when it comes on in the car on one of my ''frequent car journies with The Smiths'', I actually skip How Soon Is Now? I'm bored with it. It's the one song that gets on all the indie compilations and gets played in clubs and Morrissey himself has played it to death during his gigs. He could play two other songs for the price of one instead of HSIN?

There is a reason for what you say....it's miles better than anything The Smiths done.....and stratospheres better than anything Morrissey could even dream of ;)

...but seriously, I get your point, most bands have 'that' song, which longterm/diehard fans would happily see dropped from live sets, played on radio.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m enjoying the fun of the competition, but Soft Cell battling it out with The Rubettes for a place in the top 20 when two Tom Petty tracks were dumped out in the round of 160 ...... I mean there is no accounting for taste, but come on!

I get why Rafferty beat Refugee, but a pedestrian Bowie effort beating Free Fallin' was sad.
