The Bluemoon Song Cup 2023

I’m proud that I like different music to most on here.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m enjoying the fun of the competition, but Soft Cell battling it out with The Rubettes for a place in the top 20 when two Tom Petty tracks were dumped out in the round of 160 ...... I mean there is no accounting for taste, but come on!
I was actually looking at your songs before and was thinking how on earth have they all been eliminated already?

Well mine are mostly traditional American rock-based and it seems that new wave, twiddly keyboards, Chas n Dave knock-offs and wailing Kate Bush are preferable!

It's all good fun though - the results would have been different with a different set of posters taking part, but I accept the democratic process (although I do enjoy a good rant from the sidelines).

There are five very good songs still left in that I'll now consider "mine" for the rest of the competition, and surprisingly most of them are by English artists. (Bowie and The Jam are definitely not among them though).

Convincing win for Soft Cell as they Say Hello and Wave Goodbye to The Rubettes.

Sugar Baby Love 9 - 31 Say Hello, Wave Goodbye

looking at those that have done well its evident that for the most part they are 'singles' rather than brilliant songs you would identify as album tracks. Those winners in this round would make a decent BM greatest hits playlist.
