The Bluemoon Song Cup 2023

Well we know who you'll be voting for

So, I'm a big fan of Germany I've worked in the western part a decent amount and found the people great and much more like the British than either party ever admits. I'm a big fan of much of 70/80s synth music, it allowed a different type of creativity that I was fascinated by growing up.

So when a German band takes its inspiration from British acts such as OMD what's not to like?

Quite a lot as it turns out.

It would be fair to say, and to answer @Onholiday(somemightsay) 's question, that having listened to this a third time now in this competition I am fearful it sneaks passed one of Hendrix's less obvious tracks, because if it does, I think I am at the point where gouging my own eyes out with a rusty desert spoon will be preferable to listening to it in a further round.

Music is subjective and I am glad this song brings positive emotions to other people. Sadly for me it's only redeeming feature is it's not their other song Big In Japan, possibly the only song in the world that makes me want to inflict violence on my fellow man.

Take Jim's feelings about our bequiffed friend and magnify them by the magnification factor of whatever that thing was NASA stuck in the sky a while back. Even then it doesn't begin to scratch the surface of my (admittedly irrational) antipathy towards the song in question. The Hendrix track could just be the sounds of him trapping his tackle between the 1st and 2nd strings and I'd still vote for it in preference.

I try to give the lesser obvious ones another listen so I am still making informed decisions especially against 'new' opponents (I don't need to re- listen to Kashmir / Good vibrations etc al as they are engraved into my head).

I like this output from Hendrix - an absolute master of his instrument recognising that less can be more (some folks will be rolling their eyes at this as it's a usual observation/ criticism of many artists in the other music threads we have). ;-)

This is what separates him even from others like Rory and the likes who as much as I love him does overplay.............

I think this particular song grows on you as you listen to it and is a great example of the affinity Hendrix had with his instrument. Who knew the inability to cook spuds could result in great music :-)
