The Bluemoon Song Cup 2023

Another meh matchup ,but it got me wondering what is yet to come. I might have slipped up on one or two but I think these are the outstanding ones which means we will be for some very tasty battles over the next week or so

Which would like to face, or avoid for that matter?

Nina Simone (Feeling Good)
Pulp (Common People)
Jimi Hendrix (All Along The Watchtower)
Blue Oyster Club (Don't Fear The Reaper)
10CC (I'm not In Love)
Johnny Cash (Hurt)
Rolling Stones (The Last Time)
Rolling Stones (Gimme Shelter)
The Specials (Ghost Town)
Gerry Rafferty (Get It Right)
Bob Dylan (Like A Rolling Stone)
The Beatles (Something)
Bruce Springsteen (Streets Of Philidelphia)
David Bowie (heroes)
As long as Pulp, The Specials and Bowie go from that lot, it will be a good result (although I suspect Bowie is destined for at least the semi-finals).

I will never not love that big fat Moog sound underpinning Enjoy the Silence. It's a fantastic song but it's the Moog/ARP bassline that makes it. If you listen to the original demo that Gore made it's quite different in feel to what was eventually released. It's an ethereal thing full of haunted vulnerability and is a (really nice) ballad rather than a banger but then Alan Wilder gets his hands on it and boom. Original demo for anyone interested..

Enjoy the Silence and Say Hello Wave might be the only two synth driven tracks left in the competition?

Dave and his deckchair for the win!

If Pulp and the Specials went out the rest are good tunes- very good tunes in fact. A real contrast from some the earlier matchups of this round
Unfortunately there are too many philistines on here so they will probably go through :-(

ETS is arguably my favourite ever tune.
Once heard it called the greatest New Order tune that New Order never made.
I wrote something similar on a previous post, but I genuinely think Enjoy the Silence is an absolute bona fide classic, iconic, haunting and a superbly well-crafted piece of genius.
