MTTG is a superb record and an example of the artist 'making it theirs".

While the Oasis one is a great example of a great song and an artist turning it into a noise. And I quite like Oasis as far as Manchester bands go.

The Oasis cover is a fun cover of a fun song and very much on-brand for the band and the times. They’re well and truly pipped by Gladys here though.

I didn't know the Oasis version - it's fun, but they don't really do anything with it. For a very different version (but you probably need to be a folky to appreciate it) check out Martin Carthy's version.

The Pips make the track their own after two earlier versions - so it's a clearly a cover, and it's a classic.
