CH was formed in Melbourne, Australia and just had from NZ the brothers Finn.

They also had Aussies Paul Hester (drums) and Nick Seymour (bass) and a few Americans later on.

On any day of the week for me, Crowded House > Split Enz.

Agreed, but also worth noting that Crowded House was born out of Split Enz.

Split Enz was Tim Finn’s band.
Younger brother Neil joined later and ended up writing their best songs.
Neil formed Crowded House.
Tim Finn later joined Crowded House for one album.
Tim and Neil later did a couple of albums as The Finn Brothers.
