I think the position the club has stated is fair and pretty astute. It gives the manager a reasonable amount of time, including a full Summer transfer window, to prove he is the man for the job. That doesn't necessarily mean winning anything next year, but showing us to be moving in the right direction. If he succeeds, then great, we carry on and see where he can take us. If not, there'll be one or two decent managerial targets around as potential replacements, particularly after the World Cup (Capello and Hiddink to name but two).
