The Boxing thread

As expected Fury won but fair play to Wilder despite his lack of class after, in the ring though he showed great heart dropped on his sword and shield like he wanted, and showed improvement in his ability early on but tired quickly there was still a clear divide in the levels of each fighter.

Once Tyson warmed up it didn't take long to start dominating he only let Wilder back in by daft mistakes, from wanting his KO earlier but that's what real champs do entertain and it made the fight even better, it was brave by Fury many of the Joshua ***k riders would've slagged him off for being boring and cowardly had he just jabbed his head off from the first bell, which he could've easily done.

Now they slag him off saying he's supposedly catchable but Wilder's trademark overhand right is faster than any non basic punch Joshua has ever thrown... People saying he'd beat Wilder just remember he was very wary of Joseph Parker's supposed power when they fought and Andy Ruiz caught him out.

So was Ali so was jack dempsey so was Mike Tyson . They are all one of a kind . Look at who fury has fought take away wilder and vlad and now tell me who are elite fighters on his record .
Hammo pointed it out, three fight triologies over one belt are pretty meaningless when your arnt even undisputed. No one wants to fight for the undisputed belt as they are all more interested in making money.

Who are the elite fighters on Mike Tyson's record? You can only fight what's out there.

I suspect Fury would beat any of the greats listed, simply due to size differential but then again if those fighters were around today, they'd probably also be bigger. So impossible to tell really but Fury would certainly be up there in the discussion IMO.

Want to congratulate Tyson Fury on his fantastic win last night. He may be a rag but he's a proud Manc and years ago showed great kindness to my terminally ill niece. All my family especially her parents will always be grateful to him. .Go the Gypsy King
Bugger just on BM before I watch the fight, thought I'd be safe in the city forum!!!!

Fury isnt even undisputed. He hasnt even fought everyone in his division yet. When he achieves that and defends the title say 6 times, then and only then can he be considered amoung the greats. Thats what you need to do to be considered amounst the best.

Tyson Fury has been the best heavyweight in boxing since somewhere between 2013/2014... it's been obvious for anyone who has a good grasp of boxing knowledge but a mixture of things stopped him winning titles earlier than he did.

High profile fights not happening like Price the Scouse getting KO'd by Tony Thompson before the big fight could happen which would've cemented calls for a world title shot, Haye shitting it after pressers where the usual loud mouth stuttered a lot, then ended up faking injury twice holding back Fury's development by a couple years, then Wlad Klitschko not facing him sooner after those fights collapsed despite.a long-term stay as No1 contender and being obviously the most difficult foe he could face.

Fury would've destroyed Klitschko in any rematch like he did with Wilder, it was just one of those things Fury knew his weakness down to a tee, and it's an horrible watch but Wlad even started holding a lot towards the end getting staggered even by jabs, Vitali Klitschko in his prime would've been a far tougher than Wladimir ever could've been for Fury but that's only down to toughness, the Joshua hype train also stopped Fury being recognised full circle despite his great achievements in beating Wlad and Joshua's boxing limitations starting to show up by then, without his mental health problems Tyson Fury would've absolutely dominated this division in the past decade and embarrassed Joshua, who probs still wouldn't have even won a title by now without Fury relinquishing any titles.

I call bullshit on that, you just don't like the guy, it's quite obvious, boxing has changed over the last 10 years, if you are a long time boxing fan you need to get with the times as they aren't the same as they were in the 80's, sorry but that's the way it is.

Look at his record and that of the greats and then come back to me when you have a decent argument. Fury is good, perhaps the best of his generation but even that isnt a sure thing until you are undisputed. Perhaps you should learn the history of the sport, rather than getting caught up in the hype of one moment.
