It was a great tear up and I'm glad Beterbiev won. Frankly Im sick to death of seeing so many overhyped London based fighters to be honest. Joshua, Whyte, Yarde, Dubois... the list is endless and all of them are nothing more than bodybuilders with little boxing skill and even less endurance.
Still, when most of these fights are being staged in London, it's no surprise that the money grabbing promoters are fast tracking the London based fighters to enhance undercards and venue sales. We saw Karol Itauma lose tonight and he's another prime example of a boxer becoming a professional too soon, having spent almost no time learning his trade. He gave up on the amateur route way too soon, yet is still fundamentally flawed in his southpaw defence. He met an Argentinian journey man this evening with a decent backhand right and was taken to pieces.
There's a reason Beterbiev, Bivol and Usyk are so bloody good and it's because they are properly schooled from long amateur careers.
