The Boxing thread

Fair result, just watched it.....

Degale didn't have enough in the tank for me, he was fighting on instinct towards the end... Big potential payday for a rematch in the uk, mayweather will lap it up as it will allow him to break in to promote the brand over here!

Said before and after the fight that Jack was moving up, however if the money is right you could be right

Just watched the replay, really enjoyed it, chunky is a warrior and only for the knockdown late on would have just nicked it imo. Jack won't fancy that again, i think he said to Degale "We will do it at light heavy".
And fight for what exactly?
Jack was trying to land a shady one after the bell on a couple of occasions, hence nearly busting the refs eye socket ffs!

The whole fights that Sky showed were all competitive fights and enjoyable.

The main event beforehand i thought Jack would win it on points or lat stoppage. A draw was a fair result when you think about it. It could of went either way. A rematch would be great but I just dont see it happening. I think this fight will benefit DeGale more so. He is in for big money fights with Callum Smith easy to make and the rematch with George Groves 2 big money fights for him and back in the UK if he wants it. IF Jack moves up and gives his title away i guess DeGale will be fighting but will it be against Callum or Groves either would be great for British boxing.

Judging by his twitter posts it looks like Anthony Joshua has converted to Islam.

Genuine reasons or is he trying to copy Muhammad Ali?

I don't know, he's talked previously about his 'faith' and searching for what best suits him, if he's found it then fair play... Ali was no conventional Muslim by the way, the Nation of Islam was a farce, it's only later in his life he turned away from the institution...

First and foremost he's a human being, too much will be made of him 'converting' when in the grand scheme of things he's an entertainer, who gives a fuck?? The British media, that's who..... I believe @Paul Lake's Left Knee is a big Cliff Richards fan, his being a born again Christian doesn't detract from him 'jiving' to mistletoe and wine!

I have to say Americans seem to have been swayed by a number of things on the De Gale vs Jack fight... they love an under dog, they've basically adopted the Swede so he was the hometown fighter for a start, Showtime have an agreement with Mayweather Promotions and they were being favourable to his fighters all night. I was listening to a few post fight phone ins and was pleased to hear plenty of the hardcore do notice this about Showtime and watched without sound... it's easy to spot which ones Sky are pinning their hopes on too and HBO are no different you just have to filter out some of the bias sometimes.

A draw was actually exactly how I had it but I was surprised there wasn't a hometown decision with the way Showtime and Mayweather were acting, luckily the judges weren't swayed by the crowd that was cheering punches De Gale was rolling with and ducking in some of those close rounds, I had De Gale winning the early rounds, Jack took the middle rounds and they had a share of the later rounds(the bad last round has stuck in a lot of peoples minds, the dental bridge coming out and De Gales face being marked up as usual didn't help either) that's got a draw written all over it. Not taking anything away from Jack, he's a really good all round but De Gale gave up the middle rounds by slowing down and making it a fight that suited Jack at times, he could have won it had he been a little smarter about it and he was lucky the judges were decent on the night not many fighters get such a fair shake.

Frampton fights Leo Santa Cruz again tomorrow night in Vegas. Fair play to the lad, always on his travels and never swerve's a fight. Keeps the religious bollox out of it also. Didn't think he'd beat LSC last time out, but he put in the performance of his life and proved he is a world champion.

He's so underrated IMO, a truly world class operator, be tough tomorrow though but expect him to just edge it due to his ability on the outside, I don't think LSC has the tools to nullify it!

Your right mate, it's not always about crash bang wallop. His ability to adapt and trade seems lost on some people. Looks a decent card with Mikey Garcia and Lee Selby fighting Barros at 126 lb.

As most posters will know I have been crowing on on about Frampton from years back saying he would win the world title. People over there seem to think he got lucky beating LSC first time out saying Leos dads illness affected him. Frampton is all out to prove it wasnt a fluke. I think Carl boxes well Carl will win the fight tonight by a way bigger margin than the last. LSC tasted some of Carls power punches in the first fight this time around Carl will be more stronger at the weight with his second fight. Carl and his team can fight any fight. Carls great off the back foot for a small guy his jab is brilliant and he lands it at ease at times. He wants this more than anything. Going on the road again this is what Frampton does. Fighting in the lions den again Carl is 1 of a very few fighters who will do this. When he could well defend his title in Belfast and pick up easy pay days. But his last fight in Belfast was in 2015 the guy wants the big fights a lot of Irish fans have gone over and from the UK for this fight. Hopefully for Carl its a positive result. Personally if it is as good as the first 1 i would like to see a 3rd fight but that means LSC has to win loses again and thats a no go.

I reckon Frampton points win mate, will still be happy if he clocks off early.
