The Conservative Party/Government

Daily star - cost of living crisis
The guardian - pm blamed for election disaster
Indy - Tory mps warn Johnson
Express - bullish Boris back on track
The Times - tories punished in the South
Telegraph - victory for sinn fein
Mail - slippery starmer in crisis
Mirror - jubilee bombshell

Breakfast this morning loads of talk of how bad the Tories have done, currently asking Labour bloke if their gains were enough to get a general election victory.

Yeah the media is all about protecting the Tories. Some of you are worse than bloody scousers. Bias you scream.

Look in the mirror you daft sods.

Not the daily mirror they seem more concerned about no balcony invite for Andrew Harry and Meg.

That headline is damage limitation.

The closeness to power/tory party of the primary political journalist in the UK is a disgrace. James Forsyth at the Spectator, Harry Cole at the Sun and his boss, Dan hodges at the Mail, Sarah Vine, the list goes on, they all have either directly worked or are married/dated key people in this administration. It is not political analysis this Hello magazine gossip politics. Objective analysis is completely comprised, as political journalists become PR extensions of their mates and social circle.

Laura K at the BBC was effectively Dominic Cummings spokesperson via "sources close to the government". This incestuous relationship with journalist and power on this scale is not normal in other countries.

When you consider that Johnson‘s gone from journalist to PM, is it any wonder that this country is being ruled by certain people who have all their keys in the same bowl.

Exactly. There was an excellent twitter thread below regarding the scarcity of working class journalists in the industry, that basically the ability to support yourself financially early in your career is bigger factor of success than actual talent.

what I find really funny is that if you replicate this in a GE then an awful lot or well known Tories are under threat as Conservative becomes banished in the south, south est and south west, Scotland and Wales - their Allies in NI similarly spanked and the Tories are now the party of Yorkshire and the Midlands - areas where they have spent several years moving constituency borders to reduce the number of MP's for those areas.

Great strategy - piss off your southern core and gain in areas you have been actively trying to reduce representation in

what can you expect when Johnson went to school or is related to most - probably secretly fathered half of them !!

They really have been battered, haven’t they. Over 500 projected losses, when they said 350 would be a disaster. Huge losses in the south, further losses elsewhere in England, Wales and Scotland, and the huge slap in the face for many of their policies in Northern Ireland, which this government seem to be pushing them to reunification.

Probably all in-line with what most people thought following an absolute shot-show from Johnson and his brainless puppets.

This needs to keep going and give them a kicking in a general election. Cost of living going through the roof for the next few years and an economy that is going into a stall. I don’t think they have the ideas to fix that this Parliament.

Oh, it’s going to get worse, that is assured with their policies on the current cost of living crisis. It’s not really kicked in yet and it‘s not just the worst off that it is hitting, it’s now starting to hit those who thought they were in an OK position.

However, I’m sure that the current government have something up their sleeves, already holding approx £50 Bn back, which will be used as bribery closer to the GE. Whether people are stupid enough to accept it, and them, is another debate.

and thats why the South turned on them - that and in the fishing communities and farming communities they can see how they have been let down - those who expected immigration to be stopped seeing nothing of the sort, inflation going up, NI going up, wages not keeping pace, rising interest rates - a lot of those areas are affluent in that people bought a house and its gone up in value - they have capital but they are not cash rich - 2 posh cars on the drive and just a bit of soggy lettuce and mouldy cheese in the fridge.

Thats why Steve Bakers arse went when he saw the figures on food bank use in his constituency and just who was having to use them. That £50m might be too little too late and there may be a coup to oust Johnson and by default Sunak and unlock that £50m sooner to try and save their arses
