I just thought I’d have a quick look at what the brains trust on here made of today’s GDP revisions, showing of course the UK economy to have performed better than both France and Germany since the pandemic, and proving again just how much the initial growth estimates tend to understate UK growth. Sadly however I haven’t seen any comments.
The revisions since the pandemic were of course signalled a couple of weeks ago - startling as they are, particularly in relation to Germany’s very poor performance - but the good news today is the stronger figure for the first quarter of this year as well.
I know how much people on here liked to reference the lack of any UK growth since the pandemic, and of course how the UK compared so poorly to France and Germany - even Russia according to some posters - so I’m keen to hear their thoughts.
Have a great day.
