I can accept that Boris and Brexit muddied the waters for a lot of people but if we vote them in again then we have nobody else to blame but the British public. It will be the greatest act of self-harm since… well about 2019.

IDS claiming as politics the idea that a thinktank theoretical discussion (e.g. meat tax) can be cited as something they are against and implying (or outright claiming) that Labour are in favour of it. Presumably a Labour-associated person has passed a comment on it.
It's more plain dishonest in the whole basis, but IDS seemed very pleased with himself and the idea.
