This Rwanda treaty is a sack of shit. If it works we have to take as many 'complex cases' from them as we send. So the net result is - just as many immigrants as before, but with extra 'complex cases' that will cost more. Brilliant. Who wrote this, Lewis Carroll?

Plus Rwanda can send back any who commit serious crimes over there.

It absolutely amazes me that the Tories are choosing this crap as a hill to die on. The only thing is, the deluded headline-only readers lap all this up and think it's great.

The equivalent would be sending your two kids to a neighbour in exchange for two juvenile delinquents and paying for the privilege.

You forgot the bit that, for every one we send over, we have to pay Rwanda for 5 years to accommodate them.
 
The putting up the money earned for migrants up to £38k per year are the Torys just turning into economic vandals when we have a flat lining economy? There was an owner of a hotel in the lakes on bbc north west last night saying they can’t survive without migrant workers and this will be the same across a lot of hospitality industries, look at sectors like retail and warehousing it will be just the same. We have a chronic shortage of people in health and social care where are new recruits going to come from?

If these businesses have to look at higher wages to attract people many of them will go to the wall. Not to mention the battle with inflation all to do with less people on the jobs market wanting more money to work.

They’ve given up and are too busy infighting to actually think about the country.

To be fair, I'd say this isn't a "Dead Cat" distraction, it's a real problem to add to the list with the other things that you absolutely rightly mention.

In my view, I don’t see it as a real problem as without legal immigration we‘d have real problems in many public sectors, as well as the private. As for refugees, just get them processed properly and we wouldn’t hear of small boats, with the 20% that do not qualify moved back to their original destination.

Funny how Cumming’s and Johnson used this as the very essence of their ‘Dead Cat’ policy and now Sunak and Co have took it on as a serious issue. Even they knew that it would be found out eventually.
