What grates is that it is clear the Tories are toast and we are powerless to do anything but watch as they further ruin our Country on the national and international stage.Any other western democratic country would be rid of such an inept corrupt government such as this shambolic shit show Tory UK government. How they are clinging onto power is beyond belief !!!
There has to be a mechanism whereby this wanton destruction and asset stripping can be checked before having to wait for a GE.

Asylum seekers sent to Rwanda would then have their claims processed by Rwanda, with those whose claims are approved granted protection in Rwanda.
Under the initial agreement, claimants sent to Rwanda whose claims are ultimately rejected would either be removed to a country in which they have a right to reside, or given another form of legal immigration status in Rwanda, though after the Supreme Court’s ruling home secretary James Cleverly said the agreement would be changed to “make clear that those sent there cannot be sent to another country than the UK.”

I agree that the whole thing is just performative, because when you drill down it does not amount to very much at all , 200 people out of how many ?
We need a way to stop the boat crossings that's for certain but dog whistle politics does nothing, it's funny how this government has entered into agreement with Albania to send back most of the Albanians that cross by boat, without fanfare without headlines in the Mail just a simple bilateral agreement, but I guess bilateral agreements' don't raise the hackle's of the knuckle draggers and the hard of thinking

I swear one of them was on the radio the other day saying Rwanda had not been given a penny more.

A lot of those clowns ARE in business and are very successful with a very healthy bank balance. They have clever people advising them. They're just not very good at running the country and balancing the books as it's not their money.

Agree. Sunak talks like he has spoken to everyone and this is our biggest issue we want him to solve. The only ones he talks to are those in No 10. I wish that anybody who conceptually thinks of this as a good idea spent just one minute actually looking at the proposed agreement. I'm not convinced even every Tory party member has looked at it - let alone some of the supporters you'll find in your local pub.
Do I understand that some people in this country want to see what they perceive to be people who don't qualify for asylum sent to Rwanda? Yes, I think it's incredibly ethically questionable, mean-spirited and problematic, but I get that there are people who would want that.
But would anybody actually want this specific agreement? Absolutely fucking not, because it's a mess and makes zero sense. It's an expensive gamble on it acting as a deterrent, something we have absolutely no evidence for. In the (likely) event it doesn't work it will not only be eye-wateringly expensive but also could actually increase the number of claimants we get, because not only do we have to take in Rwandan claimants in return but the language of the agreement makes it possible for failed claimants to get returned to us.
It would at least make some sense to me if this government were vindictive yet smart operators... but vindictive, stupid and incompetent makes them look like the kind of baddies you'd find in an Austin Powers film.
