Our weird obsession with becoming like the fucking morons across the pond is genuinely worrying. It's a flag ffs, we have actual history and triumphs to be pleased about, we don't need to be obsessed with a fucking flag

They have morphed into National Conservatives.

National Conservatism

The flag shagging is typical of it as National Conservatism is about upholding national and cultural identity. This culture war stuff we have been witnessing for a while now all comes from National Conservatism, you can see it creeping into other threads on here in various forms.

It's why I have long considered Johnson dangerous, he has taken the party away from One Nation Conservatism towards National Conservatism. The latest announcement on building more nuclear warheads typifies it. Doing it has no practical value but it does appeal to the flag shagger's who still believe Britannia rules the waves only now we have a Government that waives the rules and seemingly does as it pleases without fear of recrimination. Because we will no longer be able to protest, they are further entrenching their power and they do not care who they hurt to do so. You almost have to admire there audacity, they really do not give a fuck because they know they will get away with it.

I thought the scariest part of the Governments statement on the reduction in the number of armed forces personnel (another lie of Johnsons) was that the forces will be '' fit to fight the wars of the future'' without understanding that any war is a total failure of diplomacy and the politicians concerned.

I an just surprised that none of the bright sparks have come up with the idea of outsourcing the Armed Forces to Serco.

There is time for that though.

yeah but the anti BBC culture war hadn't been declared at that stage nor was there a need to distract from Covid (Johnson had yet to delay and double the death toll at a stroke ) nor was the full horror of Brexits impact on industry being faced up to.
Now - when they need a distraction they look on twitter and see how all their supporters have a flag avatar so use that to trigger loyalty - believe you me if most of their supporters had a kitten as an avatar you would not be able to see a minister who didn't have at least one kitten in shot. Populist bull shit "government" who don't govern just sloganise and campaign
