The Conservative Party

This gets even funnier

Tory Government paid £300 million to Uniserve for PPE.

Turns out that the PPE is unwanted or not up to required standard

Currently its being stored in containers in Felixstowe Suffolk

Currently being charged £1 million a day to store

Who owns the storage company currently charging £1 million a day?

Uniserve
Just stop paying it, or ship it to places where frankly it's better than nothing. (And where there are fewer people unwilling to use PPE...)

You are simply winding folk up. No one with any logical critical thinking ability would have any doubt about who not to vote for by now.
No way I’m voting for this current Conservative government but the Tories are never getting zero votes, and neither are Labour for that matter. Fact is that some people will always vote the same way, regardless of how much of a shit show their party is at the time.

You also have to factor in that there are MPs who do a good job at local level and that will resonate with a lot of people. The geezer who was tragically murdered the other week was, by all accounts, a good servant to his constituents and even the opposition have acknowledged this.

I think I covered that. Clearly a proportion of the population have lost this ability (or never had it in the first place).

The vast majority of people vote based on self interest. Always have and always will. Whether that self interest is sometimes misguided and it becomes akin to turkeys voting for Christmas can certainly be debated, but it’s self interest all the same.

Esther Mcvey?

supporter of foodbanks, the bedroom tax and benefit cuts to 'encourage' the workshy? Misleader of Parliament (well why not, its hardly unusual for Tory cabinet ministers). She certainly represents a fine set of socially just principles.
She has the distinction of being one of few ministers actually sacked by liar Johnson.

Sounds like a mixed bag. What’s wrong with supporting foodbanks?

'In the UK it is right that, you know, more people are visiting, which you’d expect, going to foodbanks.'

She said this in her capacity as Employment Minister in 2013. She explained it was good that people were living within their means by visiting food banks. All this when benefits were being reduced in real terms and the UK was top 10 GDP in the world. She also claimed the poor prioritised mobile phones and ipads over food.

Nothing wrong in supporting foodbanks by making donations, organising them etc etc. Everything wrong in helping create the need for them in the first place. The woman has a downer on the less advantaged of our population. A couple of minutes using google will confirm that.

“No, the PM did not offer Paterson a peerage yesterday. The PM will not rule out any future actions as circumstances may change regarding Paterson’s case.”

Not that impossible. It took about 30 seconds.

And so the headline would have been “Number 10 spokesperson refuses to rule out peerage for Owen Paterson”

What the spokesperson said was that the PM hadn’t called to discuss a peerage with Owen Paterson but that they wouldn’t speculate on future peerages as there is a process in place for that. So for all intents and purposes what you said

I’m sure there’ll be those who wish to snipe about John Major, but I thought he made a pertinent point this morning when comparing then and now.

"When that happened I set up the Nolan Committee on Standards in Public Life to stop it, which has been a huge success.
"The striking difference is this: in the 1990s I set up a committee to tackle this sort of behaviour.
"Over the last few days we have seen today's government trying to defend this sort of behaviour."

He also used the word ‘un-Conservative’ to describe some of this government’s actions, which is an interesting choice of phrase.

He’s absolutely right with a lot he said.

They were actually mandated to transport PPE to the UK - and PPE suppliers were told to remove Uniserve freight costs "as these are paid centrally by DHSC."

In March 2020 they were paid 87p per face mask for 80M masks which was over 25% more than the governments benchmark price at the time.
Supergenerous pricing ('profits' of at least £28.8m on a single £69.6m contract), supplying 542 flights of PPE some or all being under an unlawfully unpublished contract, with other suppliers compelled to use it.

DHSC was prepared to pay suppliers a premium of 25% over average per unit prices without quibble. If a friendly insider in the Cabinet Office gave you that information you could make a few quid, it’s fair to say…
I only mention that because the owner, Ian Liddell was very pally with his MP, Julia Lopez, who just happened to be in the cabinet office in March 2020.

Another coincidence is that Mr Liddell also held various roles with "Prosperity UK" a prominent lobby group that boasted of "coming together to make Brexit a success" and where he will undoubtedly have rubbed shoulders with a number of prominent pro-Brexit politicians, although I’m sure that didn’t influence anything…..

are they though? The evidence is that they retain the support of the electorate - amazing though that seems
A minority of the electorate, this is what happens when you get large majorities with our shit system. They feel they can try anything and if it doesn’t stick it will be forgotten come Election Day.

The list of piss taking grows each day at some point please god some of the 40% wake the fuck up.
