The Conservative Party

The truth is, that the remotely competent Tories were pretty much all excised by Johnson. (Most were pro-EU.) What's more the local parties are in the grip of delusional UKIP types, who favour the likes of Truss. Many, maybe most, would let this insane, grotesque parody of a leader have another go, as they have convinced themselves that the financial markets and international financial institutions are somehow in the hands of Marxist lefties. In fact, in their world view - you name it, it's controlled by 'lefties'. Anything they dislike is 'left' or 'woke'.

Frankly, as a citizen, it's fucking scary, unless you fancy living in a world of total anarchy. Ironically, these people are the direct opposite of everything a proper conservative should be. But if you say that, they would say the likes of Macmillan and Douglas-Home were 'lefties'. Probably Thatcher and Major too.

He knocked on my door yesterday. Told him that I'd been a Conservative voter for the last 20 years which he seemed very pleased about and thanked me for.

I then told him I'd never vote Conservative again (at least whilst this current lot are around). I started to tell him why but he made a rather hasty retreat before I could get ranting at him.
You made the mistake of not inviting the **** in. You should have kept him for a while giving him dogs loads of abuse.

well said Lucy

The sheer arrogance and the exhibition of supercilious disinterest from Mordaunt, scribbling in her bits of paper and failing to even look at the questioner says all you need to know.
She is so stupid that she fails to realise that these actions merely serve to reinforce all that is being said about her appalling government.

I really hope that this is a genuine shift. Increasingly, there is a rejection by young people of the politics of the Daily Mail, Daily Express, Telegraph and the output of GB News. The rise of social media has meant that those publications are now generally not believed, and their influence is waning, considerably. Live evidence is now available quicker than the papers can report, and often contradicts the editorial line.

Interestingly, and I think this is where the real failure is, the Conservative party has chosen a far-right narrative to combat the swing. While it may appease a small base of their supporters, it increasingly alienates the younger generation from voting for them.
