Very, very clever move to design them like that. Apparently the reasoning behind them having them stripes is to enable them to identify their teammates faster without having to look up and then play the ball basically. I think this will actually benefit us to be fair, it's quite a clever move.

I always thought that the socks being a different colour to the opositions socks would be a be enough :)

Hey listen here 100%manc...them hi-vis socks are going to win us the league this year I should have you know! ;)

How clever we are indeed.

So clever that we only put this design on the away socks so we only get to see who we are passing to without looking up on the 10-12 occasions that we will use this kit away this year.

Genius idea surely we should not be telling the other teams such valuable information.

All I will say is it's small things like that that make the difference and that the socks may not be as daft as they look.

-- Mon Aug 02, 2010 8:59 pm --

I think you'll find they are on both sets of socks.

you are pushing the boundaries of trades description if you are claiming the home socks have stripes on them.

But I will let you believe what the marketing guys have told you.

its natural evolution. this is the same reason zebras have stripes. so they can recognise each other and not get mixed up with lions or elephants

Saying its easier to identify your teammate is bollocks. However it is about time we reverted to having maroon in our socks. It looks so much classier and is a subtle nod to our history

Don't be daft, it's just marketing bullshit from Nike. They gave the same reason when justifying the Yellow and Purple football boots they released last season. At least it's Lime Green this season!
