Pellegrini has had success at all of the clubs he's been at playing his high risk and high reward 4-2-2-2.

There was a point in season 1 and 2 whereby lots of us and the press were calling for Pellers to play a traditional 4-2-3-1 formation, however this formation never got the best out of Augero and didn't really shore up the defence like we thought it would.

Whenever we played 4-2-2-2 we usually outscored the opposition, when we play 4-2-3-1 we look like we lack urgency, over compensate in throwing people forward and ultimately get picked off (all of the top six played us like mugs doing this).

I will always have a soft spot for Pellers, not quite to the level of Mancini though - but anyway I think Pellers should have stuck to his guns and played 4-2-2-2.

I'm not being contentious, its just an observation - Its not as if my motivation is to usurper him because he's already going

Who's Pellergrini? Can we get him in for the rest of the season and get shot of Manuel now?

Can somebody enlighten me, as to what success, this charming man had at Real Madrid?
Humiliating 4-0 defeat to Alcorcon in La Copa Del Rey?
Last 16 defeat to Lyon in the Champions League?
Runner up to Barcelona in La Liga?

To be fair, he did win the Intertoto at Villarreal.

Realistically, his only success has been in South America (more than ten years ago).and at City.

Didn't he achieve 96 points? Wasn't his fault that Barcelona had put together the best club (arguably any side) the sport has ever seen.

That said I can't wait until he goes.

He did beat the previous record for most points in a season in La Liga. Unfortunate for him Barcelona were even better. And if you don't consider his spells at Villareal and Malaga as a success then you can't be taken serious.

I'm not sure coming 2nd in a 2 horse race can be considered an achievement, regardless of how many also rans they spanked.

With Iheanacho in the Negredo role I bet we'd be a lot better if we did this.

But Pellers would play Bony so there is that.

I often think we have a mismatched philosophy. High risk front foot defending with CBs coming out aggressively but now more of the plodding attack we've seen since he ditched the 4222. Defending like this more or less assumes we are putting the opponent under rapid and relentless pressure.

Really an indictment of the manager right there as I think on it.

I regard Pellegrini as a huge success.

He's won the league, and three trophies in three years,

And he achieved that success after taking over from another successful manager, something that is hard to do at any club.

Given the decades of mismanagement and underachievement at City it is a wonder Mancini and Pellegrini won anything at all despite all the money they were allowed to spend.
