Yeah I open the books as they can be skill based but I feel like I'd enjoy the game much more if I read them too.
why don't you then?

Because I've got a book case full of books I've been meaning to read for ages so the last thing I can be doing is reading 500+ 30 page novels within an Xbox game!

Honestly, I wish I could do it but it's not humanly possible. Having said that, I've enjoyed the game so far despite my lack of knowledge but then I've played these types of games before and I'm fairly familiar with the stock 'fantasy' genre despite it not being a favourite of mine.

If SWP isn't in to fantasy stuff and these types of games, there's every chance it'll be a bit overwhelming for him and he'll be turned off.

It's pretty geeky and sort of assumes you've played games of this ilk a few times. I'm a bit of a geek in my spare time and I've found it can be a little bewildering myself, I still feel I'm not getting the most out of the game due to the fact that I don't know the history and I don't read any of the numerous novels found within the game etc.

It is fun and I do like it but I feel like I'm not really getting the full experience.

Mind you, I doubt any of us on here know the history etc so I could be totally wrong!

It's value for money though, not many games still get played a month after purchase these days!
I always open the books cos they might be skill books, but i very much doubt many people actually read them all.

Cheers tmq

I'd say it was an all or nothing game.

You need to dedicate a lot of time to playing it or else it'd seem pretty shit and pointless.
i don't know i think you could enjoy it if you didn't put the time in, its not like its hard to play and takes loads of skill, but it does take a while to make you character really good, that and the story grips you.

won game of the year recently too.

SWP's back do you have a certain type of game you are after?

Well as I'm normally either at work or catch the odd hour at home before the Mrs comes back, I normally play games you can pick up and put down (COD, Battlefield, Fifa etc). Suppose I'm looking for something a little more substantial to save me from boredom these next few weeks.

It's certainly more substantial!

You could probably pick up Fallout New Vegas for half the price though which is a similar thing but more Sci Fi than Fantasy and not as overwhelming.

It took me a few hours to get into Skyrim whereas Fallout had me from the start.

Has anyone suffered from any lag problems on PS3?

I've sunk 30 hrs into this game and it's starting to get stuttery - I'm not happy!

I've got it for the 360 so I don't know much about the problems, though I have hear about them. I've only had lag twice in over 110 hours gameplay. Was myself and 2 NPC on a quest and encountered a large group of hostiles, just to give example of why it lagged. Seems to be more a PS3 issue than a 360 one oddly.

Skyrim Lag: How The Hell Did This Happen?
IGN OPINION: Bethesda must explain how and why the company shipped a game that is broken.
