The 1915 FA Cup Final was also known as "The Khaki Final" due to the large number of soldiers in uniform amongst the attendance.
And it wasn't a replay at OT, it was moved there from London due to the First World War.
1970 FA Cup final replay was staged at the swamp. And it wasn't in Manchester then either.Yeah.... war time records generally don't count. It's why Spurs v City in 1981 was the Centenary Cup Final even though the first one was in 1872.
And also OT is not in Manchester ;)
Yes I mention that in my.OP ;)1970 FA Cup final replay was staged at the swamp. And it wasn't in Manchester then either.
We used to go/break in there as kids in the early 60's. It did appear to be a big place to a 8/9 year old. Some family member got hold of a Harris frame and helped me build a bike, too. Those were the days - no fantasy leagues!Used to play there on our bikes as kids
You definitely buying the rags, then?Wow...me too, can't remember the name of the shop, still listen every now and again :)

Which is the only stadium in Manchester to host an FA Cup Final?
Fallowfield Stadium - a short walk away from Maine Road.
Built for athletics and cycling in 1892, the FA Cup final between Wolves (1) and Everton (0) was held in 1893.
In 1899 an FA Cup semi final replay between Liverpool and Sheffield United was held here too.
The venue was used in 1897 to host an England v Scotland Rugby Union game - the last time the two sides met in England outside of London.
The local cycling champion Reg Harris bought the stadium in the 50's and the venue carried his name for a while.
Manchester University bought the stadium in the 1970's and in 1994 it was built over and the land became student accommodation.
* And yes there was an FA Cup Final replay at Old Trafford - which isn't in Manchester ;)
