The fans who chanted Trautmanns name were awesome

I was borin in 1994 but i know my research on the mand and know enough to know he's a footballing hero, was a great gesture to sing the man's name

I have a signed Bert photo in my hallway - Its the only city picture I have up in the house - I'm only 30 - never seen the bloke play but I have no interest at all in idolizing ANY recent players - Yes I have a soft soft spot for some - Goat / Kinky / Rosler - Burt to me none of them really really really seem arsed deep deep down

Bert played 20 mins with a broken neck....and he has a belting story about being trapped under a load of rubble for a few days in the war

More like like - Players with a set of stones between their legs, not just hanging out for the big bucks

This is what i believed until a few weeks ago, when someone i know met Billy McAdams' son.

In my friend's own words;
he went on to Inform me that Bert NEVER broke his neck at wembley,??? it was done about 2 weeks before in Training, but bert would not tell anybody only Billy for Fear of not playing at wembley

If that is true, Burt is a bigger legend than we thought.

Im 22 so im far too young to have ever seen him play but my dad always goes on about him, he's his favourite City player and has a signed program from his testimonial. Everytime i've heard him interviewed he's always spoken very highly of us and its great to have someone like that around!

Long live Bert!!

Ditto - the only picture City related in my house is a signed picture of the teams walking onto Wembley in 1956 which Bert signed for me, along with his previous book. He was quite chuffed to see the picture and commented on how old it looked, obviously black and white.

I too was choked at the ovation at the start. Hope he heard the later singing because I couldn't from the North Stand to be honest.

seen Bert play in a testimonial in 74 for Alan Oakes I think at half time.Still seemed quite agile then and he would have been 51 then.Just glad I can say I've seen him play, albeit for 10 mins.

It was Johnny Hart's testimonial after ill-health had forced him to quit as manager.

My favourite player of all time. I used to get to Maine Road very early on match days with my Dad when I was only seven years old, just to watch Bert walk past us on his way to the players entrance. I was often rewarded with a pat on the head from the great man. He must have been sick of signing my autograph book!

The best keeper ever, a great gentleman and a real legend.

Cant embed, grrrr

Was it good then?

As I dont ;-)
It was alright. At the end of the clip the narrator said, that the new owners want to take away the players box and trautmann says "if that is going to happen, I will never put a foot on the ground of mancity again".

never heard anything about that.
