I’m going to live up to my reputation as a pedant.First live game... 7 years old sat on my dads shoulders Bolton v Liverpool 27th Sept 1967. League Cup game that ended 3-2 and Franny Lee played. The smell of the hot dog vendors was a perfume only beaten by freshly cut hay or newly laid tarmac!
First TV game is sketchy but I think it was probably the QPR v West Brom League cup final on March that same year...same score 3-2 with Rodney Marsh netting the equaliser for QPR.
There is no such thing as freshly cut hay; it’s grass, and it only becomes hay, when it is dried and baled.
