The Blue Buus... is callin us... Driver, where you
I shouldn't be atonished at what I heard, but listening to Graham Poll basically say 'you have to be careful who you send off', confirms many things we fans have continued to witness over the years.

John Terry's sending off by Phil Dowd, was justified, studs up, ill timing, career threatening tackle. I've no qualms with the decision. The question is, will it be overturned... YET AGAIN! It's not contraversial to me, looking at the incident.

'Shouldn't the rule apply to everyone, from 17 to Prem players?' the commentator asked.

"In theory, yes", Poll says "but you have to think of the consequences!"(or words to that very effect!)!

Poll's implication runs right through football about how decisions/ appeals/ requests lean towards the 'Big Boys' and I can see why fans are continually angry at the FA's lack of integrity.

Ever heard this from some?

"You can't send Terry off!"

"Why?"

"He's the England captain!"

I could not believe he said live on TV

I don't recall what he said about Terry's rugby tackle. Anyone remember? Anyway, where's Montogmery Burns, I reckon he'll find something in here to get his teeth into...

I was TOTALLY stunned at the 'matter-of-fact'ness of the statement. It didn't look calculated like he still held a grudge. It looked like it just rolled of his tongue, like it was part of the ref's guide to reffing!

IMO that was not a red card. I said it at the time at the game.

I don't think so either, rescinding it was a quite rare bout of common sense from the FA.

So... Is this opinion related to your doubts that Poll can be telling the truth about how things are dished out by refs?

Or are you just offering a useless opinion, just for the hell of it?
No it wasn't just. The fact that he has come out and said that straight away is totally unproffesional of him. It basically outlines and maybe justifies the fact that as we like to believe referees are bias towards some teams and players. Something which I believe he was to the big four in his referee career. Thus making him a tosser in my opinion

If you think he was prone to bias, in his career, 'tosser' or not, doesn't that point to some sort of mandate that refs seem to have? The unspoken rule, perhaps? And, perhaps, Dowd has had enough and wants to play the game fair, after much critiques of refs.

Poll, seems to me, just saying what is natural now. He is no longer a 'professional' within the boundaries of the game (or pitch) and can say what he likes... Like the truth.

Was watchin that. He deffo said what Bigga posted. He went on to say He red carded John Terry a few years ago and was straight away investigated(or words to that effect), obvo making refs think twice on who they book i e "the England captian".

He's still an arsehole though

Poll has a major gripe with Chelsea and Terry though, I'd take his words with a pinch of salt.

Did he say Terry should have got a straight red or the standard three yellows anyway?
