Despite us currently challenging for fourth place, I always like to take a step back and foresee and imagine this simply being the start of things to come. The noisy neighbours will get louder and they'll keep going until the whole congregation of Mancunian Asbos do so in one place, the City of Manchester Stadium.

Debt-free and with long-term plans, I do not think our owners are just in it for a quick buck. They are more interested in what they can do for this club and want to receive long-term adoration from the supporters. I get the feeling that they want to build something here that lasts. That they have a unique vision for us and are thinking a hell of a lot bigger than any of us can comprehend.

There's certainly light at the end of a tunnel that seems to have blocked by events that have held us back time and time again and I'm sure you'll cast your own minds back to them horrific relegations and playing in division two etc. Seems a life time away from the club we see today yet can remember it as if it was yesterday I can imagine for some people.

Finally we can see the rags desmise through our blue yank friends, The Glazer Family. Finally we can see the potential not only to be on level terms with them eventually, but to surpass them. Yes, I know I am talking about the long-term, but the potential to do so is a very real thing!

I find it funny to think that a few seasons ago we finished 16th. Now we have a significant majority complaining that anything below 4th would be a dissapointment. If that's not a sign of how far we've come in a stupidly short space of time then I don't know what is.

The future's bright, the future's blue and white!

It is a sign of the times that we are challenging for 4th but a few short seasons ago we were struggling to stay up and playing woeful stuff under Pearce, with no real future and nothing to look forward to. Now look at us!

Sometimes we do need a reality check on here but our expectations have been risen so high.

I agree what they are planning it more than we can comprehend. These type of guys in Abu Dhabi/Dubai only do something if it is going to be the biggest and the best.

exciting times really. i think top 4 is there for the taking and if we get it, it will be a huge step in the right direction. obviosly its brilliant what has happened over the last few years but we shouldnt just settle for europa league. we need to push for 4th. a big push!

The keyword is patience. I do despair when I read some of the stuff posted on the M.E.N forum, the number of "I want it now" moaners who seem to have forgotten just how bad the bad times were. We've never been in the mix for 5th place in the PL at this time of the season before, never mind 4th. We have a top notch manager and owners with the vision, commitment and finances to build a dynasty. All we need now is the time to let it grow.

One of the old top4 is already slipping, the long term prospects for another isn't rosy but their demise isn't going to happen overnight. We just need to be applying constant pressure by improving till we are equal/better than them. We've proved in 1 off games against all the old top 4 we can beat them now we need to maintain that and add the ability to beat the lesser teams and take 6 points from them. The CL may be decided by who finishes top of the mini league but they maintain their position by not dropping points to teams below them and this is what we need to aim for first.

Our future is bright so lets enjoy the ride.
