i really should be somewhere else
don t forget blues, the upper echelons of our fair club have long since talked about youth and development, we will in my view buy a few older players but expect us in this window and the next few to buy young players with real prospects from south america, spain and italy.

we are in a great place..we have money but won t spew cash on established stars forever and a day. this really is a project and get ready for the barcelona boys footy philosophy to take place.

messi was a jnr from argentina who developed at barca and that is the model we ve got now. good times ahead with the youth development imo.

look out for more up and coming youngsters being brought in..our youth strategy has changed ...thoughts ?

Yes but they also look at our u14's as the first set of players to have great potential to become stars. The academy is not a quick fix.

That's how I see it.

Trying to produce our own players can only be a good thing. However, I'm not expecting us to bring through a world class player every year or so. Look how long it's been since the rags have brought a truly world class player through the ranks.
I am expecting the academy to be a pretty good source of income though. Bringing through players who aren't quite good enough for the first team but will bring in a decent fee. Hopefully we can unearth and nurture a gem or two every few years.

agreed the academy is the conveyor belt of the future at relatively small outlay, can t see the majority being english though. english kids are generally plucked out because of their size and speed not necessarily skill. maybe thats why there was a clearout at this level? be interesting to see the academy in a couple of years in their new home

Has any new Youth coaches have been appointed yet or coaches we have been linked with?

We will be lucky if in 10 years, we have 3 youth players in the first team.

To me, that's best-case scenario. Barca's academy is the only one good enough to load the first team up with academy players. It will take decades to get there if we ever do.

We have already signed three foreign teens for the academy this summer. Would be nice to see us grab someone local like Danny Crowley but Arsenal got him and we seem to regularly miss out on top English prospects.
