Minimum of 11yrs of free Education , opportunity of further Education or Apprentiship , if your on minimum wage it's your own fault , not who you work for or the Goverment.

Social mobility: the charts that shame Britain.....

"Britain has some of the lowest social mobility in the developed world - the OECD figures show our earnings in the UK are more likely to reflect our fathers' than any other country"

While the bone idle continue to reap the rewards of a frivolous benefit system in this country,it's extremely unlikely to change.
People who want to get on in this country and are prepared to work their socks off to get there will continue to do so.
What shames Britain is allowing the scroungers culture to fester and grow,it's the only recession proof sector in the country

I really cannot understand how many on here rate Milliband as a PM in waiting.
The man is a disaster in waiting .
Businesses are dreading a Labour government. If they are scared , then employees should be too.
This is a man that actully asked , ACTUALLY ASKED , a businessman "Why do companies pay dividends?".
Britain is a PLC and he doesn't understand it !!!!!
Schools , hospitals and other vital services are already swamped , but he refuses to cap immigration , which has a huge effect on them.
On Europe he will not hold a referendum. He doesn't trust the British people to decide their own future.
He slates zero hours contracts , which create work and lead to experience and growth in the economy. Yet he and his minions use them.
He is willing to climb into bed with the SNP and compromise our security over Trident.
He brags that he stood up to Obama over Syria. No he didn't. He backed down in the face of the likes of Diane Abbot.
He bangs on about tax avoidance yet practices it himself .
He is using the NHS as a political tool.No political leader should be able to do this.It is Britains biggest employer and red lines should be drawn to stop it being used as a stick to beat any party.NHS spending has actully risen under the coalition , but he says it's dropped.
When questioned , all he can reply is "nobody will believe you". Is the the response of a statesman or a child in the playground ?
The man is a "clear and present danger" to this country.
Milliband is a first class cnut.

So that's a maybe from you then?

pmsl.

Red v Blue today. So, with the General Election coming up, and it being Red v Blue as well, here's a question for the Lefties only (no need for those on the Right to bother as it's an easy one for you lot). If the General Election were to replicate today's result, would you be happy with a Rag win today? No skipping the issue, if the Rags win today then Ed is the next PM, if City win, then it's 5 more years of Dave.........I reckon most Lefties would be OK with a Rag win if it meant no more Dave.

Hyperbole, with a large dollop of ignorance.

Correlation doesn't equal causation. None of those charts factor in the likely 3rd parameter of hard work. If parents work hard to forge themselves a good living then they are likely to pass those virtues on to their offspring.

As others have said, the opposite is particularly true for the UK, more so than many other countries. If your parents don't work hard and live off others' money then they too are likely to pass those virtues on to their offspring.

Whatever your politics, there's no way Miliband will be in the next Prime Minister. He looks and sounds like a mummy's boy. He comes across as the Robin Arryan of British politics.

It's shallow but that's politics. No way will the public give him an army

Yes it is, it's text book Ian Duncan Smith, that the Tories are breaking the "cycle of dependency".

That povery is the product of poor life choices, that the poor are poor because of individual short comings, lack of drive, innitiative and an unwillingness to seize abundant chances to advance themselves. The Tories see it as their goal that these vices are not passed on from one generation to the next.

But the UK is not alone in having a welfare system and in comparison with other advanced industrial nations it is far from generous, so unless you believe that the British are genetically pre-disposed to sloth and indolence, then you have to look at how our society and economy is structured for the answers.

People are quick to castigate Osborne for changing his name, but if you listen to how Harman spoke 35 years ago the difference is just as stark. Much more RP, and dare I say it posh, than the more Estuary-based twang that she speaks with today. I saw a recording of her talking after the Southwell Riots in 1979 and it was like listening to a different person.

That's just as 'bad' as changing your name, worse possibly, given Osborne underwent his change when he was 13 iirc.

She really is an odious woman.

It is an utter disgrace that the leading socialist political party and opposition are led by something so absolutely unfit for the role. As soon as the polls are closed - exit the insipid wet straight through the moon door.

I completely agree, although he's had a better campaign than I anticipated.
