The Getting Older Thread

Turned 24 a couple of weeks ago. Believe it or not, I'm starting to feel old.

I'm starting to wonder if I come across as an 'older' guy when I go out to bars/clubs. My brother (26) and I went on a Eurotrip last year and found ourselves lying about our age because most people travelling and staying in hostels were late teens/early 20s. We didn't want to be 'those weird, older guys'.
There is no way on planet earth that you can even think of yourself in those terms aged 24, get a grip man! I actually dont mind getting older all that much (40soon),but at 24 there was no way I considered myself any older than I was in university say. I think you'd enjoy your twenties much more if you stopped thinking of yourself in the way you just described. Its Friday, get on the piss til Monday morning because believe me in 15yrs it will hurt when you do. You lucky bastard.

Memory is getting worse.

Always forgetting to iron the cat and feed the washing machine before I go out nowadays

Understanding the cynical view of the world, that older people had when you were young and idealistic, was due to experience.

Realising that because your body gets old your mind doesn't have to.

Also the nose and ear hair.

Ranting at the left wing wankers on the BBC news, talking down to you as if you are 4.

I hear you mate :-)
The world is turning into a herd of simpering apologists and curtain twitchers.
But to be fair it could be just us getting old and we've had our day.
If I were a Dog and my name was old Shep they'd have taken me round the back of the barn already.

Aches.... my god, everything aches. A lot. I'm "only" mid-40s, and although I've never been particularly fit, I still cycle 1500 miles a year.... but I'm crippled for a couple of days after any ride longer than 10 miles. My back hurts, my legs hurt, even my feet hurt. WHat the hell will I be like when I'm 80?
