is that he is less likely to be targeted by the Italian national team (or any other national team for that matter).

the champions league is more similar to international tournaments than the premier league, as it comprises of one-off games against teams that only come together every few weeks or months, and the pressure on each european game is so much more intense than in an individual domestic league game.

international football cultures come into play, teams have to play in contrasting and diverse footballing environments (from Ajax with their homegrown approach to the Bernabeu with its galactico-style environment, for example).

our champions league games have showed that mancini can't produce when it comes down to an individual game against a team from the unknown, and is far more effective when he is working with the players on a day to day basis and facing teams that he is more familiar with.

i randomly thought this today, so we can take something from our dismal champions league campaign this season! FORZA MANCINI

Yes, but if it's going to be anything that gets Mancini the sack at City, it will be his inability to produce valid European performances and to win the Champions League.

There is no doubting his ability to bring us domestic success, but there is still a huge question mark whether he can produce on the European stage.

I think the owner will give Mancini one more season to prove his worth in the CL, and by that I mean producing good performances and getting out of the group, taking us to the next step in Europe.

take your points, but it would at least be nice to try and get out of a slightly easier group next season

It will save me some money on euro aways.

this was my thought also. The same when we went out the league cup. Football's too expensive.

would you rather we progress in these competitions and you miss out on attending the games, or would you rather we go out all together so you don't miss out on anything?

Prandelli hasn't got a champions league record second to none and donadoni wasn't appointed for his record in the competition either so I disagree with the op. I think if the misters job became available, Mancini would be the favourite regardless of his success or otherwise in the champions league. I for one hope he would stay with us but given his profile he certainly would be considered and for an Italian manager it would be very hard to resist the pull of il nazionale.

Here is some pornography to answer the question: what is the good thing about Mancini's inability to conquer Europe.
